Default The most expensive car in the world is....

If you guessed it is a GT 250 Ferrari, good guess.

This month one sold for $35 million to Craig McCaw.

Orginally built for Sterling Moss, raced at LeMans in 1962 by Innes Ireland.

This $35 Million Ferrari Is The Most Expensive Car Ever

I think it would be worth even more if it had a decent color paint job. Like red?

... my daughter's Toyota Camry. I have spent easily as much repairing that thing as I would have if I had bought a Ferrari 250.

When I shipped my son off to college this year (where they can't keep cars) I gave away his(my) car just so I wouldn't have to fix it anymore.

Its funny, I have a short list of cars that I would love to have if money allowed. After looking at prices of originals I would probably end up having a stable full of replicas.

Perhaps dollars is not the best measure of a car's expense. Perhaps it should be expressed as a percent of the owner's net worth. That would put some of our cars in the running.

Technically, Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost #001 (the first made) is the most expensive car in the world: It is owned by Rolls-Royce, and it is insured for $45M. Not that it is for sale...
In my case, the world's most expensive car is my unfinished CSX car...

Isn't it amazing that the most expensive cars in the world are those which are spartan at best in creature comfort, are not especially comfortable to drive, and in certain cases aren't even that attractive to look at. If those are the qualities that determine value, I should consider selling my daughter's old beat up Honda Accord.

Seriously, I was always intrigued with the appearance of the Ferrari GT250. I was really tempted to purchase one of the kits that used to be available to convert a 240Z into a Ferrari GT 250 replica. Drop in a small block Chevy, stick on the fiberglas pieces and do a little magic on the interior and those cars really did look like the original. I read an article recently where a guy took his original GT250 out on the track and crashed it. Bet the insurance company is screaming bloody murder.

With dozens of works of art selling for more than $50 million, maybe some classic cars are too cheap.

This Cézanne sold for $250 million in 2011.
