Default why does SPF emergency brake cost $450 plus

just need the e-brake handle. the one i have is braking in half. I called Hillbank
they want $450 plus shipping. Finish Line has one, but its little different than the SPF for $150.

Thumbs up

Lokar makes a nice handle that looks like it would work for you. Available at Summit for less than $120.

Default e brake

summits ebrake looks like the one sold by Finish Line. Not exact same as the one SPF uses. Hillbank has it in there inventory and its welded were mine or the older one's are not. Obviously its been a problem, and now it looks like they put a weld on it and charging like the damn thing is made of gold.

The car is a toy, and with that you pay toy prices.

I had a 70 Jeep with the Buick V6 in it. Generally going to the Buick dealer to buy parts was less than half than going to the Jeep dealer.

Back then Jeeps were toys also.

I couldn't find anything on that site for a hand brake. Seems to me, I've seen the Lokar long handle on an SPF. Do a search for Lokar Trans Mount Hand brake and see if it's the same handle.

Just looked at a couple SPF pics on line and none looked like the Lokar handle. Guess I was wrong about the handle. It might be adaptable though. Might still look into it for that price.

Default Toys

Silverback is right, these are toys, so nothing is priced reasonable.
I think you should remove the original handle , take it to be welded.

I try to do all my maintenance. Builds sweat equity.

I looked up the picture. That's a definite "gotcha". I don't know if yours has or needs that reinforcing plate stitched to the side.

I might be happy to pay $450 for an emergency brake if it actually worked! Ha, Ha! Then, if you do set it, it is almost impossible to release! That is what I love about Cobras: Sometimes they don't work right and they are still perfect toys! I guess I need to play with my emergency brake more to get it working.....

Default Superformance Sticks it to its Followers!

Hillbank will stick it to you whenever they can. Trust me! I still own one but would never buy another Superformance! Big Ole Lance Stander stuck it to me once he had me over a barrel!

I bought my SPF from Olthoff Racing 11 years ago. When I took delivery of the car, Bob Olthoff told me it came with two guarantees: "The handbrake doesn't work and the roof leaks." He was right about both. Somehow I've managed to enjoy every mile despite these deficiencies.
FIA-ERA and TN Shelby Cobra like this.

Thats pretty cheap when you figure Shelby Distubution has the Shelby floor mats listed for $450.00. So many great deals!

Looks a lot like the 11" Lokar with the knob removed at the top of the handle. Little different but the mounting holes look very close of not the same.
