Problem on new Front Brakes!!!!???
After changing front and rear brakes with new calipers and disks I am insecure regarding the result.
The feeling using the brakes is better as it has been.
The outside surface of the front disks do not look as I want them to (first two fotos). The inside is ok and smooth (fotos 3 & 4).
The rear brakes are ok and smooth inside & outside (foto 5).
There is no problem with the brakes driving in a normal way, but slam on the brakes needs additional power (I do not have a power brake unit).
Thanks for advice and help,
Rico

Your calipers are miss aligned, and not square to the disks. You may need to install a power booster. If after you correct the alignment there is still excessive peddle effort

Bill, I don`t think so. The new brakes only have approx. 40 miles driven.
At the fotos (choose bigger size) you can see like nearly the same shades of marks. Is it maybe only a bad surface finish?
Rotors are: Front 0.810/12.20, Rear 0.810/11.75

Rico,
You need to bed the brakes. The fronts look that way due to heat transfer rates between surface/vanes on your new front rotors. The rears have not even started to bed.
Please see this article: ebc brakes technical articles/car_brake_technical_articles/how_to_bed_in_new_rotors
And this one: tirerack.com/brakes/tech/
And this one: zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
Also it appears that you have too much forward bias but until you bed the brakes you cannot tell from the visual of the rotors or from feel as full coefficient of friction will not be achieved.

Rico,
I agree with Richard that the brakes need to be bedded but it also appears to me, judging by the photo, that the caliper isn't aligned with the rotor. It could be the angle of the camera to the rotor but look at the top where the pad is compared to the bottom where the pad is. Looks like the top of the caliper is shifted to the left while the bottom is about centered.

Can't imagine what causes the chatter, once it is fixed then see how thet work.Pedal pressure not enough more than likely you need to change master cylinder to smaller bore.Wilwood has a chart to show the required line pressure to stop the car with normal pedal pressure.

I agree with Richard completely, a proper bedding process will improve the brake performance considerably.
With regards to the stripping pattern: I used to see that 10-15 years ago at Wilwood when the Blanchard grinder lost the set-up and did not dress the table and grinding head properly. Because the faces are ground in separate operations and have huge magnetic loads placed on them, it was very difficult to maintain the required flatness, parallelism etc.
Is it possible that these are old rotors?

Thanks for your advice!
Today I took the time to make the pad bedding ref. to Zeckhausen Racing .
After the bedding I realized that the alignment between rotor and caliper has not been 100%.
I adjusted the left and right caliper approx. 0.3mm or 0,011".
I repeated the bedding procedure and the rotors showed an equal contact/ square.
I also changed the balance between front and rear brake. Too much front brake pressure.
More I will let you know after the next test.
Rico
