Default sidepipes heat sheild?

I see a lot of heat shield for side pipes for sale . Prices vary from $ 250. to $ 600. I have ceramic pipes on. the car. I guess looking one that doesnt discolor or pitted over time. any suggestions, where to buy. Ps I have grandchildren.

Mine are stock SPF one. I can't remember the price as I have to replace one a couple years back. I believe they are stainless powder coated. Once they have been on for a while(mine has been on the road since 2002) they will corrode the side pipe where the clamp on.
You can still get burned. My youngest daughter burned her leg getting out!!!

There have been threads here before regarding cutting a section of welder's blanket and velcroing it inside the door sill. Roll it out to cover the pipe when getting in or out. To protect your grand children you could use that instead of or in addition to heat shields. I think you can put bare skin against a welder's blanket over a hot pipe without burning or even feeling much heat. Of course, the downside is that you have to remember to unfurl the thing...

Regards,

Kevin

Get a piece of 5" truck exhaust pipe, saw it lengthwise into two pieces (as long as you want it), and clamp it to your sidepipes with truck clamps and paint them. Under 100 bucks for the pair. Check my photos (page 2).
