E15 gas - a problem?
AAA warns E15 gasoline could cause car damage
"E15, a higher blend of ethanol and gasoline, has rolled out in a handful of states. But its use in older vehicles is generating warnings from AAA, which says E15 could be harmful to pre-2012 vehicles."
Has anyone run into this as an issue yet? Of course, Cobra's have engines that are not 2012 versions in a lot of cases - most cases, so if E15 is the only option - just fill it up?

I have read about the horror stories but under 10% seems to be the magic level where only plastic and rubber parts (gas lines and gaskets) alone will be disolved. No boat engine manufacturer will honor any warranty where ethanol mix gas is used. All marine gasoline is Federally exempt from the ethanol addition requirement. My first hand experience consisted of my son-in-law borrowing my boat and filling the 30 gallon tank with gas station gas. I didn't take the boat out for a couple of months and when I did I checked the water filter and found over a pint of water. Ethanol absorbs water like crazy from the environment. Think of it as adding a pint of water to every tank of gas. I guess if you live in desert areas you would only have to worry about the plastic/rubber/seals problems. If I could only find E-15 I would put a marine water filter (they look outside just like an oil filter) on my cars. Don't even get me started on how this fraud was perpetrated by the Government and special interests for the corn growers, on the general public.

Consider the facts:
There are only a couple service stations in the whole U.S. that sell it.
It will NOT replace E-10
Station owners will have to install separate tanks and pumps on their own dollar
That Fox news report is 99% pure B.S. by two bimbo's that know nothing on the subject
I wouldn't worry about it. This has been discussed on many car forums.

Ethanol is still crap. It takes more energy to refine out than it gives us back in the combustion process, and wreaks havoc on vehicles not originally designed to use the stuff. This has been demonstrated in many reports.

Get pure-gas app for your phone, make friends with cropduster for 100 av gas, don't buy E15 and be happy you can get something to help alleviate the E15's affinity for water if you have to get E15. Drive your car so fuel won't go bad.

People, livestock and vehicles should not all be competing for same crop.
A daily driver 4x4 SUV might feed a small village.

My mom's Grand Marquis is a flex fuel vehicle so will it run on E85?
I hope we never need to find out!

Have a friend who just bought a 11 Malibu. Says it can run on E85 but only every 4th tank full.
Why bother it's not really any cheaper.

It is my understanding there is a chemical reaction with certain plastics. There is a mixture question. Does the engine need to be tweeked?
And, I understand it "dries out" the combustion process. For older engines, it was recommended a 40W oil be used.
Things I had heard.
