Taking Your Dog For a Ride in the Cobra
Ellie absolutely loves my Cobra. I know she would love to go for a ride in it. I've looked on the 'net for dog seat harnesses, but I thought I would post a note here. She weighs about 18 lbs. and has very short legs; I have four point duckbill belts. Anyone out there take their dog for a ride?

My Boxers would be out of that car, first bird they see! That's not even mentioning them scratching up the entire car before they even get in to it.
Good luck finding a suitable restraint system for your sidekick! I'm sure that you could rig up a standard dog car harness without much effort.

Reminds me of when we were kids, sled riding in the winter. Someone got the idea to take their dog down the hill on the sled with them. About half way down, as they got some speed, the dog got scared and peed all over everyone.

I won't go fast; just around town a little bit with her. I was tuning the Cobra up today in the driveway, adjusting the carb, and she just goes nuts every time I fire up the car. She knows it's a toy, and she wants in on the fun. And both she and I will pee before we drive in it -- I know I always do.

I took my 105 lbs. German Shepherd for an evening ride in my ERA. This was before my Cobra was painted and I was still using the vinyl seats. I threw a blanket down on the seats, coaxed him in (no problem: "Ride?! You're taking ME for a RIDE?!!!"). We went for an evening ride and he just hung his head over the door and took it all it.
Donner (roughly, "Thunder" in German) was very protective, particularly of my son. He'd position himself between anyone that came over to the house and Cameron himself. If you wanted to approach me you needed Donner's permission first. He hung out with me while I worked on my Cobra, and was with me during my transplant recovery.
I'm glad I had that time with him that one evening. He was a bit big, and I got a couple of odd looks at the Shell station. He seemed to have a good time, and I was privileged to provide that moment for him.
I have to admit, though, I was inspired by "The Art of Racing in the Rain". Glad I did it.
Damn! I truly miss that magnificent dog!

One of my friends takes Bo with him all the time. He has a small fireproof matt he lays on the side pipes before he lets him out! He loves to go for rides! He had a clear bra put on the tops of the doors ( Just like he had installed on the nose and in front of the rear tires) in case Bo puts his paws up there by accident and would scratch it.

Go for it...I had to take my 120lb lab in the Cobra once for about 110 miles.
As much as he loves to ride in the back of the pickup or in the back of the jeep, he frankly look annoyed riding in the SPF.
Since his head was over the windshield when he sat in the seat, it did look pretty silly and everyone that noticed him was laughing, so he was probably embarrassed by the whole thing... once was enough for me.

You can use felt welding blanket like this: https://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/en...gif:O+Pan+Felt

Wow. You guys are brave. I guess you arent terrified of the dog scratching the paint on the dash or the door? or scratching anything for that matter.
Hell I hate when passengers put their greasy paws on the door when they close it

No problem, She (Shelby) only needed a hat to keep her ears out of her eyes She sits quietly during even long rides.

I can just see a dog loving a cobra more than a hay bale on a flatbed truck!!!

I use the Champion K9 seat belt for my Lab in my daily driver. Super easy to put on and take off, and attaches to an existing seatbelt.
Champion Canine Seat Belt System
Loud noises don't bother her, but I'd be worried about the volume of sidepipes.
