Question on items "For Sale"

I've been trying to figure out why someone would post an item in the classifieds, and then not respond to inquiries sent by PM, and comments left on the ad site. I understand if the item has sold that you wouldn't want to have to respond to countless questions, but all it would take is to note on the ad that the item sold! I finally joined the forum after about 8 years of lurking, so that I could contact members who list items for sale that I am interested in purchasing, and participate where I could on threads, so it's frustrating.
Sorry that my first non-intro post is a complaint. I know that I'll probably get flamed, but I just wish that people that post items for sale would follow up to keep their ad status more current.

That's pretty typical of a couple of the members here. There's other who join only to post up stuff for sale. Once it sells their gone. Try and go to their profile and see how long they have been members, how active they are and how many items they have had for sale. Most everybody here is a square shooter with a couple exceptions. It won't take you long to figure it out.

I've had the same issues with many sellers on the classified site here. Seems to be too much trouble to answer some simple questions or send a picture of a particular item. I've even offered to buy an item in a message and never got a response from several sellers- what's up with that?
I've tried PM's and questions on the ad thread, but some guys just ignore the ad once they have it posted, in my experience.

Thanks guys, I was beginning to think it was just me. I kind of wish there were rules for posting for sale items, that to keep them on the site the poster would need to update their ad periodically, and note when they sold. It would save everyone alot of grief.

On the other hand, I've had stuff I posted for sale (on another forum) as much as eight years earlier. Some guy finds it on a search and sends out inquiries to every sale item posted, even though the listing is updated with a sold notice. I figure the person on the other end of the inquiry is either a scammer or too stupid for me to bother with a response. Not saying you did this, but it has happened to me a few times.

EDIT: And without fail it has been a member with a very low post count. On the other forum, I will not sell to anyone without at least 50 non-classified posts.

In this case, the item went up for sale the end of November, with a change in price a week or so later. I've bought and sold, not alot of items on the other site, but enough, and haven't had this problem. No worries, I've moved on. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some more, and make people more comfortable. I'm not going anywhere.
