Hmm, NYG...you're growing on me.

I had an Autokraft. They're really good cars. Ally, British, and the liberties they took with the body were great in my book.

In the end...wrong engine for this numbskull. Dropping in an FE wasn't an option (legally anyway), and would have detracted from what an Autokraft is, so I let it go.

Again, great Cobras.

I am not an expert, but I am under the impression that all AutoKraft MkIV Cobras used the Ford Mustang GT 5.0L/Borg-Warner T-5 transmission. These cars were built in a limited assembly line run in the 1980s. I have been under the impression they are a great cars.

Correct....and yes, they ARE great cars! Superbly built and very nicely balanced.

Correct engine already in, FE would tank the value.
Not sure it would fit easily as the foot boxes were larger.

Steep for MKIV

These have been in EB and tide for years price wise
Not recognized at large events.
That us why I never bought one.

Kinda a read headed stepchild of these cars.

Yes, I am a fan if them. More so carb cars.

Agreed with all of the above, except that I just can't bring myself to like the body modifications/reshaping. I never liked the look in pictures but I reserved judgement until I got up close and personal with one in the flesh in Las Vegas. The elongated and drooped section of the door area and the fishface radiator opening really kill my libido for what is otherwise a great sports car.

It's no tire-shredding 427SC clone, but it never pretended to be - just a nice, well-balanced, more modern evolution of the old AC Cobra 289 Sports. I actually even like the interior and dash treatment and thinking of emulating that in my rebuild.

The expert just weighed in thanks Rick. Any idea of the breakdown of carbed vs injected? That looks like a little sweetie! I dislike the boat interior, I have made a few traditional style dashes for them and a couple of other parts like gas cap adapters. I think that car needs some more miles on it.

Agreed...just drive 'em! Crush bugs and burn gas!

I'm no expert - first to admit. But I have studied the aesthetics of automotive shapes and design. I wouldn't think of commenting for example, on something out of my realm of expertise like chassis construction or welding...or business ethics - or basket weaving even. When these topics come up I wish the experts would chime in a bit more for the edification of the hoi polloi and other plebs like me.

That's the engine that came in them, as a smog certified 1987 vehicle.

Buzz,
I think mickmate was referring to MarkIV as the expert.
He's been around Autokrafts longer than anybody.

Yes I'm well aware of the origin of the Mark IV moniker. And I was just commenting on the subject of expertise in general.
