Tachometer problem
I have a Superformance Cobra with 3000 miles and the tachometer stopped working. Can anyone recommend a quick fix?

Not without seeing the car, no. It's either a drive gear issue or a guage issue. First thing I'd do is check the drive end at the transmission, could be loose. If not, unscrew it and lightly chuck the cable end in an electric drill and spin it. If the needle moves its the transmission fitting, likely the drive gear. make sure everything is tight first, you can reach up behind the dash and finger tighten the knurled lock ring on the guage .

A good place to start would be checking the wires on the back of the Tach, have you done that?

In my old SPF I had a tach issue that was cause by the center contact in the dizzy being dirty.
Blas to the rescue.

I had an issue in my SPF with the tach being erratic. Turned out to be a bad battery to chassis ground (ground wire was just barely attached to the chassis). I cleaned and refastened the ground and the tach immediately worked as it was supposed to.

I think when I get my car I am going to make sure that ground is good and possibly add and or check the engine to chassis ground. That is a classic cause for mystery problems. Stand on the gas and the car stumbles.....

Remember, all these Smith's tachs were mechanical, I guess I'm in motorcycle mode, my Triumph's have nice cables off the gearbox.

Roger,
Give me a call. We will ship a replacement if needed.
