Car/Truck wheels?
Looking for a new set of wheels for my car. Keep seeing truck/suv wheels. what is the difference between them and a car wheel? I figured just center bore.

My guess is that wheels have a weight rating just like tires do. Wheels for a SUV or truck have to be rated to carry a heavier load than wheels for cars. ... If you're picking a SUV wheel just for looks, it shouldn't matter if all the other dimensions are compatible. If you're picking a wheel for performance, you probably don't want the added weight likely present in a truck rated wheel.

Thanks, Tommy. Wheel center bore and weight rating difference is all I have found.

Truck / SUV wheels will probably have a higher load rating, even if all the other parameters are the same. Variables in wheel selection, other than style, appearance and finish: - Diameter
- Width
- Load rating
- Offset / backspacing
- PCD / Bolt Circle
- Center bore
Simple - right?

Actually my problem is finding a good looking wheel with the right backspace. I need a 15x10 with 6" to 7" of backspace.

The Summit Racing website brought up 1,907 wheels with 15" diameter and 6-7" backspacing. I couldn't narrow it any farther without the rest of your specs. Give them a look if you haven't yet.

Are you looking for a Halibrand-style wheel, or some other particular style? American Racing offers custom backspacing on some of their wheels. Check out American Racing : Wheel Specs where you can get the VN427 wheel with gray or polished center and offset from -63mm to +22mm. I believe the +22mm would give you a backspace of over 6".
Team III Wheels also offers what you're looking for, I believe: ET Wheels by Team III Wheels
Note: Both photos above are 17" wheels, but both companies offer 15" as well.
Vintage Wheels, a Club Cobra sponsor, also offers custom backspace options on 15" wheels. Check them out at: 427 SHELBY® 5 LUG WHEELS : Vintage Wheels, Mustang, Hot Rod and Muscle Car

Decided on these. Used Shineseal on them. We'll see how the stuff works.
