Quick jack 3500 review
I am here to report my experience with the Quick Jack 3500 System
First I have to give KUDOS to their customer service department.
The first motor was dropped and crushed during shipping REPLACED ASAP
When finally assembled, one of the hose connectors leaked SENT ALL NEW CONNECTIONS
NEVER a question..... just an apology for my problems. NOTE i bought this from one of their customers NOT direct. Paid 899
After a little bleeding of the air the jacks worked as described and flawlessly. I only took it to the lower level of height (2 locations for their safety bars) I was able to reach oil pan (my main purpose this time was to change oil only)
I placed on the main rails of my Backdraft longways. There is a method to place horizontal to wheels which would provide more room for tranny access.
I felt safe as the car was very stable. the ease of pulling out from under the car as placing under the car was simple I used one large rubber block at all 4 corners. there are additional blocks. Car was up in less than 30 seconds and down in the same time frame.
I chose these for the fact of easy storage. each ramp is light and has 2 wheels for easy use around the garage.
RECOMMENDED FOR ANY COBRA OWNER

It looks as if it would be handy to have. What is the maximum lift with the one that you have, and as asked in the previous post, how is the stability?

I don't have a Quick Jack, but my usual test for stability when on jack stands is to push hard on each corner of the car - I'm only going under there when the thing is rock solid and doesn't move in response.

That is the way I normally would do it also, but with these as narrow as they are I was wondering if they would tip if someone happened to hit or push on the side of the car near the center. I have a set of Kwik Lift Ramps that I have used for years and I like them, but this would give me a lot more room in my cramped garage it they are really stable.

Stability Test...... while there is no specific test, I found my self pushing on the corner of the rear 1/4 panel. little or no movement. I leaned over the fender on both sides while changing and checking oil. I didn't NOT attempt to shake aggressively nor sit on the car as I didn't find the need for that
The bars lock down into a position in which the weight of the car keeps it in this position. Of Course I was cautious!!! In this first attempt to use, I only changed to only; therefore only turning one nut! and the filter.
I need to inspect all other bolts headers etc as I am at my 1000 mile mark and break-in. So as we catch a warmer day, I will be back at it. I will try to take more pics!
I really don't think you can beat the convenience and compact size.
You can always supplement with jacks on the corners in you feel its necessary.

The pic attached was in the lower position.
With the blocks in the highest position it states you can raise up to 20"

Jack stands probably have a narrower base than the Quick Jack, so I would think the QJs would be harder to tip. If they're going to tip I wouldn't want to be under there - so a healthy hip check or a good shove on each corner before crawling under is in order.

I have the 5000 lb model and find stability to be pretty darn good as long as you pay close attention to the placement of the individual lifts and the rubber blocks to contact the frame rails properly. It took a little practice and a few tries to get it right but once it is done correctly it is solid. I just keep the lifts under the car when I park to leave more room in the garage, and because they are pretty heavy and thus moving them around requires some effort. Doable but more effort than I was expecting.

I was concerned about stability when considering this lift, so I called the distributor and asked the tech guy.
He was quick to respond " I would not feel comfortable working under the car while on the lift. It was not meant for that, only for quick jobs/pit stops tire change etc"
I have not seen any of their videos showing someone under the car.
He was so adamant about not the safest thing to do, I decided to forget them.

20" of lift is about the same as a KwikLift, which I am perfectly comfortable getting under. Not thinking I would be feeling same under the car with these QuickJacks. However, they do seem to be well suited for tire / brake service and for taking to the track.
On a side note, I have always wondered if anyone ever attempted to install air jacks on a Cobra. The ones like on the F1, Indy and LeMans cars?...
Now that would be nice on track day!

The manual is full of cautionary notes but does not discourage getting under the car while the car is on the lift. My judgement is that doing so is no more hazardous than getting under the car while it is on jackstands. Just make sure that the Quick Jack is maintained in good operating condition. i.e., tight nuts, bolts and lubed.

A friend of mine has a set of air jacks he's thinking of putting in either his Cortina (motorcycle engine, sequential gearbox, no reverse, carbon fibre hood and trunk lid, somewhere around 1200-1300 lbs wet) or his Lotus 7 clone (~300 HP motorcycle engine, sequential gearbox, no reverse, <1,000 lbs wet).
BTW, the 7 is completely insane and was recovered this summer after it was stolen 10 years ago along with the fully-enclosed trailer it was in at the time. The car was abused while the thieves had it, and the engine was no longer in it when found. Someone had removed the old engine (nitrous injected) with a sawzall, so there are certain parts of the car that have been butchered. His plans are to tear it down and do a complete re-build before putting it back on the road.

I too checked into Quick Jacks but really couldn't get past the stability issue. I ended up going to a Kwik Lift. Yes, it's bigger, takes more room but they are as stable as a rock. Very happy with mine.
