Jack maintenance
Lots of folks have told me that I don't know jack, but I learned a little bit of it yesterday. Floor jacks need looking after.
There are a few of us on here who work on their cars themselves and are not fortunate enough to have a lift. This for you, almost bit me.
Jacking up the cobra yesterday in preparation for changing the oil pan. Front end jacked up with the floor jack first part way, and on the jack stands at the lowest setting. Part way up with the back and I hear a noise from the front. Check the stands and they look OK, so walk to the back and give the handle another pump. Same noise, and that is when I realized that the jack didn't move, wheels did not roll. Checked the front and the car had slid a bit on the top of the jack stands. Set the car down on some blocks and took a look at the hydraulic jack. Pulled a caster and found that the thing had never been greased from the factory. Greased 'em all up and now the jack rolls like it should as I jack the car up.
So check the floor jack if you use one and make sure that you won't drop the car.
