Was thinking about polishing the valve covers but I don't want to take a chance on hitting machined cobra engraving

Are the covers aluminum or steel? You could tape over the Cobra Emblem and polish the rest of the covers and then finish any rough edges around the emblem with a dremel.

They're aluminum and the cobra emblem is machined into them I could tape them

I don't think you'll much with them now, any buffing wheel will kiss that new emblem.

A 2k paint to match other parts would be a better option.

Black wrinkle finish looks quite nice, or natural aluminium.

Hard to keep polished alloy engine parts polished.
