Default Rare Find: 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra Hidden in Garage 39 Years

she should be newer than csx2125> because of rack & pinion steering rack if not retrofitted.

That could turn out to be quite a find if he can get the parts to restore it. It was certainly an interesting story.

What a mess. But looks like it's mostly there and a good restoration shop could certainly put it good as new. Thanks for posting.

A worthwhile project. Wish I knew about, probably the only way that i would ever come close to owning an original.

Looks to be mostly there. Even has the heater! Just a guess but it’s probably worth over a half million the way it is. Hopefully someone who knows what they’re doing is restoring it and some customization shop like you see on TV.

This car is being restored now. Most of the original body has been saved.

Great post, thanks for the links to the article Osgur_Tan. I was able to save via capture, some of the full sized screen shots of the photos into my Desktop Pictures for my screen saver. I have loads of original Cobra photos which make for a wonderful rolling display. This will be a fine project. I noticed that the tunnel appears to be upholstered in either leather or viynal and not a carpet type of covering.

Who's doing the restoration? I'd turn it over to the Murray Brothers.

You spelled Rare Drive Inc wrong!

They're the only ones I'd use!

While the article is fairly new, the "find" is not and I believe we discussed this car here or on the saac forum quite some time ago.

Just when you think all the garage/barn finds are found. Kinda surprised the owner tore it down so far, guess he wanted to restore it himself. I really doubt that the torque from that 289 bent the frame though.

That sounded goofy to me too.
