XKE Parking Brake Adjustment Help Needed
Finally got both parking brake calipers to pull using one cable, now I just need help getting them adjusted to where they work correctly. Currently, the wheels will still turn when the lever is pulled.
Photos are attached of what I've done.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks, Larry
I used that video to rebuild the parking brake calipers. However, that was last year and I picked up some things I'd forgotten -- especially how to adjust them.

Got the parking brake calipers adjusted, but I need to find two of the parking brake return springs and so far have been unable to locate them.
Anyone know where I can get them ?
Thanks,
Jim

I order Cobra caliper parts from xks.com. They have these but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. If not, you might dig around and see what else they have.

Might be able to get them at Ace hardware too.

He may be looking for the retractor plate:

We can usually reuse the plate by bending it back to its original shape.

Here are the return springs I'm looking for:
Not sure what strength springs I needed to get.
Found 2 semi-heavy springs in my bolt bucket and got them installed. They may be too heavy, but they do pull the calipers open.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
Your leverage ratio is different from one side to the other.
The outer cable should be mounted above the lever pivot, not outboard from it.

Thanks, Gary
I went by the photo.
Are you saying the left hand side (outer) should be mounted above the pivot point?

The two levers should be effectively the same length as in the drawn picture above.
Your lever with the cable outer is now a longer lever.
That's only an observation, and not your original complaint fix.

Gary,
I raised the left hand side one with a spacer and tried it, I can't see any difference in the pull with the cable on top of the lever.
The drawing is from a hot rod site where some of them install XKE rear ends in their cars, the information was brought to my attention by Larry (LMH).
Anyway, I appreciate your help -- I'm happy with what I have -- the brake now holds.
Thanks,
Jim

That's good if you now have a functioning handbrake Jim.
