Default Moroso 8 Qt oil pan...oil level re-verification

Hi guys. I have the stated, inverted tee, 8 Qt pan on my FE. I want to check my original dip stick verification (done at 8.5 Qts) without draining the oil. Reason being, measuring the (flexible stick) it’s almost longer than the distance between the retaining tube and the sump.
Anyhow measuring the kick out part of the pan, it volumes out to exactly 8 Qts.
At the front and rear are two tapered plugs. The rear I used for the oil temp sensor and the front is undusturbed. My question is, if I remove the front plug and set the oil level with the top of the plug hole, that will be 8Qts, correct? Or is the pan full of stuff that will take up some of the volume? Thanks.

The plug hole is not a fill-to-spill like a transmission or Diff.

Moroso instructions calls out 8 qts, and that does not include filling the oil filter.

Then running the engine. Shutting down and adjust the dipstick to the Full mark.

All the above assumes your not running a remote filter and or oil cooler.

I'd baseline the system with a filled block mounted oil filter and 8 qts in the pan. Set the dipstick. then re-add the cooler and remote housing. Service engine oil level to the full mark you set earlier.

The only way to verify your dipstick full mark is to drain the pan completely then add exactly 8 quarts of oil. Do not start the engine. Allow time for the oil to settle into the pan, then insert the dipstick. The level indicated on the dipstick will be the full mark.

After you start the engine, turn it off and top up to the full mark achieved above.

So it’s 8 Qts in the oil pan, not the engine. Makes sense I guess.
