So... These things are almost always a can of worms.
If you love the putting things together aspect, running all over creation to find missing stuff, cutting and re-welding to make things fit, etc, go for it. Someone is abandoning it for a reason, and that reason is most like NOT that things went well (Occasionally "other issues" like divorce cause the project to be set aside, but mostly they sit on the shelf because the task is MUCH larger than the original owner anticipated.)
In most cases, the best deal you can make is to haul it away from them for nothing and not charge for it. Anything between 0 and what they want is negotiable.
Otherwise I'd bet even money that you'll never finish it either and in two years will be asking someone to take it off your hands.
Hate to be brutal but that's just the way unfinished no-name Cobra kits work.
If you want a car to drive, buy one that's already finished.
