Superformance teams with Shelby and Ford to bring the Shelby GR-1 to production
Report says it will use power train from the 2020 GT500, but also offer manual option. Offered under the Low Car Volume Manufacturer's Act. (The act has yet to be finalized but was shaken loose from Congress after SEMA threatened to sue.)
https://www.motor1.com/news/301760/f...-1-production/
This would imply that Ford will submit the GT500 engine as for compliance with the act. As of right now Ford does not have a compliant engine with the only offering currently coming from GM. Submission requirements include the engine/ECU be in current production so that emissions are carried over from that platform.
Here's Superformance's statement

Will Superformance manufacture their own alloy bodies or will they subcontract with Kirkham?

I'd put my money on Kirkham. They do an excellent job and beg the question why make what you can buy especially if it is potentially less expensive and as good or better. SPF would have to bring an aluminum body fab facility on line to do their own. The facility already exists at Kirkham's. It doesn't make sense to pay money to reinvent the wheel.
Waaaaay cool car!

Styling roots based on the awesomely beautiful DeTomaso Mangusta. I really hope this comes to fruition. The article says the first 100 - 200 special editions will be aluminum bodied, so I wonder if that implies that the regular production following those will be 'glass bodied and produced by Superformance.

Looks real nice. Would put down a deposit, but a little out of my price range.

I just read the SPF statement and it does state the bodies will be available in either aluminum or carbon fiber.

It was my understanding one of the requirements under the legislation is that vehicles are to be reproductions of previous PRODUCTION vehicles with a minimum production volume. That rules out Daytona Coupes (racing only, 6 produced) as well as the GR-1.
The final regulations will allow low-volume automakers to sell up to 325 cars each year that resemble production vehicles manufactured at least 25 years ago.
[A specially produced motor vehicle…] Resembles the body of a motor vehicle, on an overall 1:1 scale (+/- 10 percent) of original body lines, excluding roof configuration, ride height, trim attached to the body, fenders, running boards, grille, hood or hood lines, windows, and axle location, that had been commercially manufactured during consecutive model years, for sale not less than 25 years after the latest model year, with a production run of at least 50 units of a unique body style, before production of the current model year motor vehicle — CAL. CODE REGS. tit 13, § 2209.1 (2018)

Perhaps something has changed in the regulations.

Hmmm.... I do recall it had to be licensed from the original manufacturer as well, but didn't remember the production part. Unless something changed. I guess we'll see.

Nothing is finalized yet, but I wouldn't discount the possibility that Superformance and/or its agents / lobbyists have been able to convince regulators as to the value of allowing something like the GR-1 to be produced. Regulations can always be changed if there is sufficient and compelling reason.
Watch the driveways and garages to see which elected or appointed officials end up with one of these. Cough, cough...
Pardon my cynicism...

Nah they dont make enough money as a senator or representative to afford it. Oh I forgot somehow on that meager salary they all become millionaires.
Pardon my cynicism

I believe the need for it to be a replica is out the window. Other companies are already operating under the low volume act, one I happen to follow:
