Neat video Rick, I wish he was a "little smoother" (Smooth is Fast) Matching downshifts, would help, he did (Heel & Toe once) I know, I know, it's a Cobra tough to "Charm" but stabbing the throttle, just upsets the whole car. This (My opinion) and $3.00 will get you a cup of coffee, or is coffee not that cheap anymore TommyRot.

FYI James Cottingham (the driver) is a very experienced Vintage car racer in Britain and has raced the Goodwood revival races for at least 7 years. He does in fact "heel & toe" throughout the video, if you watch closely you can see his right knee flex inward to brake and blip the throttle.
Being this was closed course timed rally stage cross traffic would not have been an issue.

Anyone know about the car? I notice modern gauges and lights. Also dash panel is more like a Kirkham, not an original.

Good photos Rick! I noticed the Alfa GTA (GTV) couldn't tell which one it was.
Well presented.

If your speaking of the red Alfa, in the photo's. Yes, it's a GTA, as it has oil cooler opening's in front (But anyone can cut those opening's I had them on my GTV), but the true tell is by the "Finger pull's' door handles, rather than flush door handles on the GTV. Very hard to replicate.

John, very interesting Would love to hear more about your time there (In Europe ?) Short history on my 66GTV, Raced in Europe from 66-68 (Saloon racing) then mine & it's sister car came here, to run the Trans-Am 68-69, with the newest 1750 engine(#00018 Block) then EP or BS in SCCA for years & years Funny story: I remember my car from 68 (13yo) here in Kent @ the Trans-Am race, it was dark blue same as Mark's (Donohue, my hero) 68 Camaro. Nice to hear there's more than just Glen (xb-60) & I here into the Legend that is ALFA. Cheers TommyRot.

All of Baker & Heijn's racing was on the east coast. Replacement parts were difficult to secure and when the car ran the shop was closed, therefore no money coming in. For the most part it did well but money was always a problem.

John, any idea what happen to it ? We have the GTA (Jochen Rindt) car that won the very first Trans-Am race (Overall) The car he rolled in practice. My buddy Terry owned it for years & years. And was so..... slow in restoring it, another friend brought it had it done in less than 2-years, and now races with Sorven (Our PNW Vintage Group). I still hang with my other (Old) Alfa racer's. As you can tell John, I still miss my "OlYellow" drop nose girl, kinda like the Cobra, I'd go out and Wax her just to feel the lines of the car. Cheers TommyRot.

Not an Alfisti but I did see Gus Andrey drive as well as the Hamburger King's car a few time in T/A at Lime Rock and Bryar. Some great racing. Hard to believe an Alfa dealer could sell too many in VT.

If you go to the web looking for Alfa GTA Trans Am there is a listing of several GTA's including Baker & Heijn's car. Among other things it includes the drivers and races competed in. The car was in Canada for a time maybe back here now.

Yes, Baker & Heijn was the only Alfa dealer in Vermont in 1965 and later. But remember Alfa was not too well known on the east coast at the time.
