Yes, does look nice. Someone with deeper pockets than I will probably enjoy it. Hopefully it gets driven and not stored in some warehouse.

That's beautiful! Is that one of the AC's that came from the factory with a Chevy engine???

Beautiful looking 427 body that is very tastefully understated, but still impressive. Combine that with a 289 and it's truly a unique Cobra that would be a joy to drive. Hope it goes to a good home and is driven regularly.

These were the last of the Cobra's, built at Thames Ditton on the same jigs as the big block cars, but with the Ford 289 and AC badges, under agreement with Ford and Shelby! COB were right hand drive and COX were left hand, very rare. Cheers, Dennis

They seem to be going from 450,000 to over 500,000, that's Pounds Sterling of course! My poor Mr. Piggy died for nothing, just not enough in him for one of those! Cheers, Dennis

I saw an old ad. for COB6124 when it was for sale back in 2014 in Japan. The price comparison back then was £680,000 (pounds sterling)
Cheers,
Glen

That's a lot of silver...
But understandably so, beautiful car. And it makes another contribution to the rich history of these cars.
And just when I was beginning to think that I might have a pretty good understanding of the history of these cars, I am reminded that I still have lots to learn.
So, yet another master class from this site. Thank you!

It’s interesting but my take is that even with the 427 they are light and nimble cars. The coil over cars do offer a touch better handling but the buggy spring cars do hold the road very well.
I think it’s more about tires, my MKIV is a delight to drive but with the skinny tires it’s not as good as my HTM-427 car which holds the road like glue. (Big Sticky Tires)
Hmmm either way the COB cars look to be as much as a MKII Cobra.

I posted this before, but it fits here as well, as to why all Cobra's are expensive. If you take all the AC Ace's, Aceca's, Cobra's and AC 289s, it is less then the second year of export only Jaguar E Types! For those of you lucky enough to own any of those AC cars, you are truly lucky in more ways then one! Cheers, Dennis

Agree about the big sticky tires and my thinking was more tire with a lighter motor might make for a really nice handling car.

There are three 289 Sports for sale at the moment (possibly four). And I still can't afford one of them...

I forgot something important about the last Cobra's. While most of us consider the AC 289 Sport as the last true Cobra's, just look at the body, technically, they were not the last! No I am not talking abought the many abnodations made here in the states, I'm talking about a true AC made in Thames Ditton UK! In the early days, contracts were flying around the world, between Ford, Shelby and AC. This allowed AC to use the name after 1967. Hence the AC 289, which never left the factory with a Cobra on the tail or nose, but many had at least one added to the nose by the owners. There was one more last gasp, on a car that also never had the Cobra on it from the factory, that was the AC 428 Frua. To find the Cobra you have to dig deep under the bonnet, CF, Cobra Frua. Hopefully, some one will prove me wrong, but I have never seen a picture of a Frua with the snake any where on it, but it was more a Cobra then the Ford incarnations. That's what makes the Cobra story so much fun, there's always a new twist! Cheers, Dennis
