Default Old member, just bought Dan Kirsch's ERA

I have been a member since 2002, but always just banged around as an FE guy and after USAF retirement, a restoration and performance engine builder

I picked up a very nice Cobra yesterday, this will be a project for me. It's an ERA Cobra replica with a (temporarily) broken 496 Genesis, Stage 3 heads, Tunnel Wedge and lots of go-fast goodies. FE Forum and Club Cobra guys may recognize this as the late Dan Kirsch's car.

Alicia (Dan's daughter) and her husband Kevin kept it after his passing but allowed me to be the next caretaker. My plan for the engine is pending right now, but thinking a very period-correct original looking repair/build, lot's of detailing and some cosmetics to make it functional and pretty. I'll document the tear down when it gets to the front of the line.

If anyone remembers Dan's screen name for a search or if you know history of the car, please share! I have a lot of documentation, but the more the better, thanks!

Happy to upload photos to the gallery as well but can't figure it out!

A search of his name yielded his screenname - carnut427. In his profile, I clicked on "find all posts..." and there are quite a few you can look through. This is the link from that search:

If the link doesn’t work, search for posts by carnut427. Not sure if that will bring up all his posts so click on his username in any post, select view public profile. From there you can click on all posts from that user and see his entire history. There were 4 full pages of posts once I did that.

Thanks, I have some customer engines to finish up, but really need to just decide on a plan and it should go quickly

I think...and use that term loosely...I am going to do either a stock stroke Ford block side oiler, or maybe a 428 crank,I have a nice .020 over block ready to go. Iron medium riser heads, and go back to single 4 and a turkey pan, but all nice modern internals and detail it like it would be in the 60s

The other option is keep alum heads and I have a nice med riser dual quad for another variable...not really a fan of the polished Tunnel Wedge.

We'll see
