I built this car originally in 1989, and just did a complete frame off, replace every nut and bolt build. Switched from rhd .to lhd added power steering.

Well done - must be satisfying to do. One question - what are the bolts and Heim Joint hanging out the back for? I'm guessing its a trailing link to stabilise the suspension - if so do you have a photo of the whole link and are you happy with the result?

Butler did that on most of the Cobras he built, although he didn't have the adjustable arms hanging out like that. Here is a picture of the set-up on my car. It makes quite a difference, but they replace the original factory versions that were mounted on the front of the control arm.

Mostly they stop axle tramp. Without them the lower arm flexes. It was more important at the time that when the things move they don't alter the toe in too much. So it is set with constant toe in at the rear and when under heavy braking the back lifts and stays toe in to even. If it toe's out under braking the ass will move all over and be hard to control.

I have had a Unique Motorcars cobra, with the rear locating link, and a ERA cobra with the front link. Both had 575+ hp and Avons. The Unique car absolutely launched harder with less wheelspin, so much so that I was very scared that something in the drive train might break. As far as handling on the track, or stability under braking, I could tell no "seat of the pants" difference, both were excellent. I loved both of the cars I've had the privilege to own and would be hard pressed to choose the favorite. However, from my experience, if you like drag racing starts, the rear link design might be the way to go.
