CSX 2038...What ever became of it....?
This was an early slab side used and abused by various people during it's life and then "lost" for many years. Then the frame without body turns up a couple of years back.
So what ever became of it??

Registry (as of 1997) shows it lost in space, probably wrecked at CS Driving School.
I have no data on it....why do you ask?
If you have been cruising the archives here, I think the deal about the frame surfacing, talked about here three years ago, was a "troll-hoax".

I remember some of that discussion - never seemed to go anywhere.

That thread we had a couple of months ago about the frame surfacing prompted a deeper search and it seems like these "missing" frame issues do pop up from time to time.
When was the last time an "authenticated" lost frame actually was discovered?

Someone logged on, asking where he could find a body for the "original" frame his buddy had. Talked about the ID plate (CSX2038) and such... never followed up with anything to validate...then... poof!...he was gone. He knew too much about the details to be as naive as he pretended to be.

..some of those stories get a wee-bit ugly, and are best left untold, to protect the "innocent".

Better left unsaid
Ha ha,,,,I hear you Ron. Like we don't have enough controversy around here all ready? Sometimes the deeper you dig, the uglier it gets.
Ernie
There are some "issues" of "originality" concerning certain parts on my Healey (the ash tray, yeah thats the ticket)........but I'd rather not discuss them.

Ref your discussions about the body of CSX2038. You may like to know that there is a claimant to the body in the UK. The body is an early thin aluminium type as used by the factory and has been assessd as correct . due to wear and tear the nose cone has been replaced and the old nose cone is now loose. The nose has no paint on it and the holes in it line up precisely with the early Cobra badge-not the Ace badge. boot and bonnet catches are missing but the hinges are correctly marked. Meanwhile a whole car has now been recognised in the US. does anyone know any more?

Ref e-bay scam comments, I apologise for troubling you all . I thought this was a serious website/page where issues would generate informed comment and information. I have been approached by the owner of the car to generat an FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form for the car and am tryiing to establish its history. I will go away and find another research avenue.

A little hasty, people.
Might I suggest that some are a little too quick to judge. 'Real Things' do turn up, occasionally, (Thinking of the "Lost Lightweight E-type") and require authentication. If it turns out to be a Dud, so be it. If it turns out to be the real thing, finding out will have been only the harder.

Hey Jeremy... time for a bit of a tune up.
No need to apologize, you troubled no one. Apparently, perhaps you thought you might get instant answers. As I often explain, a "discussion" forum is just that... a place for discussion. It is not a vending machine for instant answers.
There are many knowledgable people here, with respect to history and provenance... it may take a bit of time for someone to check in, if they have more info.
Two bits for you... First, are you talking about a claimant with a body skin, or a full chassis/body? The determining factor is the frame... if he just has a thin-skinned shell...that's interesting, but it's not a car.
Secondly, any sort of serious research about CSX2xxx whereabouts should begin with SAAC. I suggest you contact Ned Scudder, the Registrar for CSX2k/3K cars. His contact info can be found on the SAAC website

CSX 2038 has been in the hands of a caring owner since 1975. He acquired it from the gent who bought it from Shelby American after its use in the driving school. It is red/black vs. its original white/red color scheme and it's in nice shape. Car is located in central California.

Hi - I am new here, so sorry for jumping in head first....and digging out a rather old theme.
I would be interested in seeing/finding the older discussion as mentioned above, but wasn´t able to do so, unfortunately. Are older threads like this one no longer readable ?
I am interested of the story before, because the white 2038 is possibly offered for sale in GB and a friend is interested.
Thank you !
Ralph

The real car is still in California, the copy/replica is roaming around Great Britain.

Bill - thank you. Yes, I know. But I would be interested in the story "before" of the UK car, as has been discussed here in an even older topic.
I was hoping to find that discussion or someone might know where to look.
CSX 2038 via search only offers this topic as a result.
