Default Film Friday Classic racing in living color at Bridgehampton

Subject: chilly out there!

If you are feeling a bit chilly with the top down, watch this tape sent to me last week by several people.

Sunny skies at Bridgehampton with the ocean as a backdrop.....some fun footage!

One of my favorite scenes is where our film guy in his Healy is battling it out with a couple similar competitors and it looks like they are really going fast, when suddenly two D-Jaguars and what looks like a Cunningham blow by everyone like they were tied to posts! (Jaguar set the world speed record that year). Unfortunately nothing lasts forever and by the time Bridgehampton closed in 1998 -- another victim of land appreciation and neighbors with sensitive ears -- its best days were already long behind it. It's a swanky golf course now, but this film is a stirring look at its glory days.

Film Friday: Classic racing in living color at Bridgehampton - Autoweek
Enjoy!

Great memories of the "Bridge". I earned my SCCA Regional comp license there in 1973 (in a borrowed Ford Pinto!), planning on turning our '66 GT350 into a B Production racer. It never happened, but Diane and I worked flag and commo there until 1977, when we moved from NJ to Indiana.

WOW !! Often wondered what happened to the track. Was stationed at Montauk AFB in 1961-62 and worked corners for a few races. Didn't remember all the sand on the track, those guys had brass ones !!!

Thanks for some great Healey action. In return, I'll share one of my favorite Cobra shots ... the transporter at the Bridge:
