Default Sunday, 03/19/17 Nice Ride

If youse aren't terribly tuckered out from all the car show excitement, how about taking yer cars for a drive this coming Sunday morning?
Leave the Chevron at Idaho and the 60 at 8:30. We should be able to beat the heavy Renaissance Festival traffic. (it opens at 10am) Run up to Globe, go through the Salt River Canyon to Show Low. Then over to Payson and back to the Valley. Sounds like a nice little 300-350 mile drive.

Anybody up for it?
Harumph likes this.

I'll try to meet you two guys there to give you the dust cap seals I got for the Halibrands.

There's nothing in Wickenburg or Alamagordo that I really want to see. Besides, I've got a crapload of work to get done in the yard, and some on the Cobra.

Nniets, you are right. Stay home and putzy. The weather will be much better for a drive next month.

Karl, don't think I'll make it all the way to Show Low, probably take 188 out of Miami to either Butcher Hook or Punkin Center to grab a bite to eat and then on back to Fountain Hills and on home. I need to be back home early afternoon and going to Show Lo would take to much time.

Keith, be glad to have your company for however long. I'll try to remember to take my ice vest since I think its going to be toasty back in the valley when I return. Forecast is for 96° later in the afternoon. ITSA COMIN'

Looks like it will be just the two of us. Looked up the route you will be traveling and round trip for me would be about a 7 hour drive thus the reason to cut it short in order to get back home at a reasonable hour.

Brown's is putting in new glass for my freshly cracked windshield. Fortunately they are doing it n/c as the last one was installed with tension on it and spit up the middle. Won't have it back until next week. Have fun and drive safely.

Hope this one works out better than the last one Doc.

What has nniets been smokin', but I want some!

Don't count me totally out, but the shortened run that Keith suggested may be a possibility!

Questionable Ralphie

Karl can explain it. Or Robert or Scottie. :-)

Nice drive this morning. Probably should have gone up the canyon with you Karl, ran into an accident, overturned SUV and Travel Trailer about 2 miles down the 188 towards Roosevelt. Lots of people stopped, didn't look like anyone was seriously hurt so several cars scooted around the wreck and I followed them. Other than that it was a nice uneventful drive.

I got home at 2:30 to a balmy 97°. I decided that since the drive was so nice that I'd go ahead and go to Show Low, rather than just back track through the Canyon. From Show Low, I took 260 down through Heber to Payson. Almost got a little nipply up on the rim, where there were still some patches of snow in the trees. Traffic was pretty light until I got on Bush Hwy, going to the lake. I got behind an Iowa Buick that religiously adhered to the 25 and 35MPH speed limits. That little annoyance and passing no less than 5 dead skunks along the route were the only drawbacks to the 315 mile drive. I'd just have to imagine that youse guys that didn't take their cars out, had every bit as much enjoyment as I. or not
