Default Kirkham

Well gang after 4 fun years I have decided to sell the Kirkham. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it runs and drives fantastic (took it out for a quick 40 miles this am as a matter of fact). But the bottom line is my schedule does not give me the time to drive it as much as I would like, and nobody wants to ride in it with me so I think it’s time for a change. So I am going to put it up for sale - not sure where yet but soon. Wanted to put the word out in case anyone on the forum is interested.

I will probably end up with a Porsche but not sure right now what I’ll get next (I am only allowed to have one hot rod at a time...).

Mike

How about a 2020 Corvette? Comfort, handling, some power.

Mike, by the description of your car, I'm sure it was a fun ride this morning.
Good luck with the sale. I'm sure it will find a good home.

I love the car and it’s going to be hard to match the power to weight ratio and fun factor but my wife wants something with a top and a/c. I am thinking about a 718 Cayman GT4 which at least seems like a sports car. Not sure I can bring myself to drive a Corvette but the 20’s are very nice.

I guess I'm going to have to sell my Windex stock since its doubtful the next owner will keep the car so gleeming!

Sorry to hear you're selling the Kirkham, we will all miss seeing it here in Phoenix.

What about a CSX9000 Daytona Coupe? They have A/C and a few more creature comforts. Hillbank has a couple for sale including an ex-Bondurant owned #26 FIA Championship Coupe.

Cheers

Mike, I too am sorry to hear about you selling the Kirkham, but I get the open cockpit thing with the wife. Yes, maybe a well done coupe might be the ticket What ever you get, I'm sure you will still be able to hang with the AZ. Boys , they still let Mr. R.B. Moore show-up and he owns one of those Chevette's Cheers TonnyRot.

I tried to talk my wife into a coupe - in fact it was one of the first aluminum bodied cars built in South Africa (the original buyer backed out). Lance was going to make me a really good deal on it. Wife said it was just a Cobra with a hard top.

Hi Mike,
The Superformance Coupe is nice and refined for street. Here is a video with Peter Brock and the upgrades he did to his.

Superformance no longer has a coupe in their lineup. The car was transferred to Shelby American as the CSX9000 series. The transition involved some changes to the interior that made it a little more comfortable (notably, narrowing the transmission tunnel and moving the pedals so they are a little straighter (still offset, but not as much). Air condition standard, even a spot for a radio if you want it. Electric windows. It's a nice car.

Peter Brock makes his own variant (also by HiTech) but they are different still, the "Brock Coupe".

Mike,
Keep the Kirkham and get the Porche. A great start to your collection. You can't take it with you, you know.

I agree with Scotty, Mike. This isn't the best time to sell any Cobra. I've watched BaT, the best place to sell our cars, and they are down 20-35% in retail price. Not enough "Old Butts" to fill the seats anymore Keep your's and start your collection with a "Shiny" new Porsche My .$02 Cheers TommyRot.

Not enough room in the garage for more cars nor would Jami look fondly on that. If so I would already have a 68 Mustang Fastback and 66 Fairlane in there among others.

I will likely stick it up on BaT and see how it does

Someone will get a helluva nice car.

Hey PHx Mike, could you provide the details on your Kirkman, chassis, engine, price? I have been in the market for a CSX or Kirkham, just need the right one. No Cobra’s on the islands.

Thanks

Will be sorry to see you go Mike, but I understand your predicament. My retired brother has a new 911 and a Macan in his 2 car garage and loves them. Good luck on the sale.
Perhaps Cobra Country & Hemmings? Maybe next Barrett-Jackson or Mecum?

Cobra Country in a heartbeat - it'll move quickly there. I'd stay away from auctions for a while. Attendance is going to be down with COVID for a long time, and that means some of the big money will also stay away. BAT does seem to draw some traffic, but I didn't want to battle the mindless drivel that seems to dominate the comments.
