Get ur $4K together
I know, I know, the TKX isn't that much, but you'll find a way to spend it anyway. Why not a T56 since you're spend a wad?
I'd luv one.

Aren't Tremec transmissions made in Mexico? Why buy (another?) Tremec?
You could have a bulletproof Toploader, new, from David Kee for $2450
Cheers!

No overdrive and the TKX is a direct bolt in for the TKO-500/600. If it happens to me, I'd do the same.

Sorry to hear that Dan. Perhaps a rebuild at trans shop? It lasted a long time originally.

As I think about Danr's issue, I'm just totally baffled how this could have happened, considering how much the car sits in his garage

Sorry to hear this has happened.
Seems a bit odd to still have the rear of every tooth intact, like the input shaft teeth are not used for their total width?
Normally when this happens from torque, a tooth with a fracture point fails, and then the following teeth all fail as a consequence.

I was shifting from second to.third under a medium load when something snapped. Luckily I had forty miles to go to get home. Fourth a nd fifth gears didn't seem to be affected.
