Saturday morning power tour out west
Plan is to start from Oasis Bagels in Estrella Park at 730. Head west out thru lonely farm roads that are fun to Arlington dam and the historic bridge overlook. Then back thru the beautiful farm twisty and loop around palo verde nuclear power plant to a gas stop in to span, then back thru the farms to our starting place for coffee and bagels at oasis bagels around 930. Please confirm if you plan to attend. Nice roads, no traffic, scenic and nice.

. Yes. West of Phoenix. Google oasis bagels for route start. There is a shell gas about a block west of oasis.

Karl, check for closures. They have been doing work in the Deck Park Tunnel lately.

Bruce, What is the Octane Event and just when is it? Later September or Early October are typically times the Cobras do their Coronado Trail Run: Globe, Thatcher/Safford, Morenci, Devil's Highway to Springerville for the Saturday night. Sunday: over to Show Low and then home either through the Salt River Canyon to Globe and then home. Since I have not had good luck on The Trail, I go on over to New Mexico and then up to Alpine to pick up the Trail. (Morenci to Springerville is about 119 miles with 460 turns. BIG FUN!

October in alpine. It’s called octane event. Let me check. I have ridden 666 so many times on bikes I get dizzy thinking about it. Two years ago 5 horses burst across the road, good thing I wear depends. I am saying alpine Texas in October. If there is a conflict I will stay in Arizona. Trying to make car friends here, and it’s my turf.

Oh THAT Alpine. Looks like about 600+ miles for me. Might be doable. I won't try making it in one day, in the Cobra. I'd rather grab a motel and be able to walk the next day.

What's the matter Karl? You afraid the Coronado trail whammy is going to shift to New Mexico and you're able to bump into something there?
I would join you guys this morning, if I hadn't thrown my back out yesterday trying to fix the sink. Sorry Karl I'm not going to make it.

Very enjoyable 213 miles for me. the roads, that were not freeway, are much better, to me, but even freeways are better than just letting the car just sit sit in the garage and draw spider webs. I'd never been to that part of the valley. Huge hay fields, several fragrant feed lots, multi acre solar farms, Palo Verde from the back side. I'd never heard of the Arlington Bridge and was glad to have seen it.
Also, two thumbs up for Oasis Bagels. Good food and nice people.
Thanks for conjuring up the ride and nice to meet you Bruce.

Nice to meet you Bruce. It was a nice ride, the bridge was interesting. I left early to do lunch and get new phones with Lisa.
