FFR MK4 in Arizona
Good morning all, I see there is an Arizona group so thought I would try this.
I recently set out to purchase a cobra replica, having just sold a FFR 33 hotrod I thought I would stick with FFR.
I wanted something a bit more old school, simple, carburetor... a lit more analog but not what I purchased, felt I couldn't pass the car up and now I have to make a decision to sell as is or move forward with it and thought I would reach out locally.
I didn't mind something needing any body and paint as I am in that industry and taught eom paint certification for 16 years for BASF.
I purchased a ffr cobra mk4 that has more technology than I wanted, it was an unfinished build that had been complete, assembled and driven about 300 miles before the builder had knee replacement and couldn't find someone to finish body and paint... it had been gapped, sanded and bodywork started but never finished and painted.
I got the car late Sunday before early Monday travel for business so not allot of time with the car yet.
Appeared to run and sound great but thought the oil and water temp stayed too low and oil pressure too high but now I'm hearing that might be normal and make sure the gauges aren't set to metric.
The car was a full complete FFR kit mk4, coyote Gen 1 crate motor, new TKO 600 5 speed, IRS rear, 17" halibrand replicas, etc, it was at one time completely assembled with all parts and now some stuff disassembled and in boxes, not sure what some items are... I am sure I can push through it but would sure help with some local knowledge, I would pay someone to come look at what I have or I would drive to look at one completed and hopefully an FFR mk4.
I feel this car was way over engineered for my taste with added vintage AC, hydro brakes, power steering, seat heaters, fire suppression system, foot box vent system etc.
I am trying to make a decision to move forward on it or sell as is and purchase a more old school replica.
I am hoping to find some local help if it's out there, I am in the surprise az area but again willing to drive to look at a completed one or even better someone come see what I have and a little information would be great.

Way too much work for my ability or knowledge but my hat's off to you. Build it & sell for enough to by the car you want. You may even like what you have.

It is all about personal choice. The Coyote will be great engine for the car. If you don't like it you could trade it out for a carbureted small block, but $$$. If you keep the hood closed, no one else will know what's there. Most of the other tech you mentioned, is not readily noticeable. The 17" wheels are obvious, but allow bigger brakes and have many great tire options compared to the 15s. Once again, it's all personal choice. The most economical build would be to embrace what is there and run with it.

Sounds like the one I just read on Craigslist. Looks like a project. Do small projects inline with your abilities and make it what ya want.

I used to have an ffr mk3 with hydroboost ps and brakes- I now have a superformance with a manual rack, which I wanted. Sometimes I miss the ps (tight track or parking), but I don't miss having to chase leaks on that thing
I'd push it through. In the end you'll have a classic looking car that drives like a modern one.

Thanks guys... appreciate it, I did put it on local Craigslist for $37K, I am not sure of that is out of line, I thought being a complete coyote kit with everything that was reasonable... maybe not..
If it sells I will just purchased something finished and more in line with what I was looking for and if not I will take it to the end.
I got a couple leads from here on local builders that may be of some assistance, but neither returned calls.
Thanks again all.

Thanks Jim, I was eventually planning on it, just wanted to be sure I'm not out of line with value and gonna go through boxes today to be certain I have everything.

I have decided to keep the car after exploring it today, went through the boxes and it all makes sense, spoke to someone who can possibly help with the coyote tuning. Thanks to all

Just my personal opinion here, if you don't like it ehhh?
First off, the Coyote Motor is a great engine. It's a buzzsaw. I figure we're close to the same decade in age?
As far as the sound goes? There's no replacement for displacement? I have an FIA car so a small block just sounds right IMO. I have a carb and a small block.

2 important heads up from my MkIV build experience.
I have the Wilwood pedal box with dual masters. I have had nothing but problem after problem with masters failing. I'm changing to the donor pedal assembly with a dual master cylinder and proportioning valve. I've had the pedal go soft too many times.
Also related to Wilwood pedal box, the clutch cable assy was inadequate for my heavy clutch. Mike Forte does sell an excellent slave cylinder conversion kit.
Both of these items are a bear to get to, once the car is assembled.

Thanks, I am going to go through everything once I have the body off, I may have found a good "coyote" mechanic to go through motor/electronics and tune... I can manage through the rest and will get familiar with the wilwood system, I had it on my 33 and frankly wasn't a fan of the balancing bar, on that vs prop valve, never really felt like I had the bias right.
Going to Gordon's place Monday for a few items and as much as I can find out about the MK4
Thanks again.
