Jim, if you have a generic 4150/4160 then do yourself a favor and buy a reasonably cheap one off of Ebay and practice taking that carb apart, adjusting it, putting it back together, etc. There are a ton of videos on YouTube showing you every step of the way. You can do it. Your confidence will grow, and remember, if you somehow manage to really screw something up just throw the carb away. Once you say to yourself "wow, I understand this and can do it myself" then tackle the one that's on your car. Learning how to adjust and rebuild a Holley is a skill that will serve you well during your Cobra ownership. If you dropped your car off at a gas station in the early 1970's it was kids like me that were rebuilding them and adjusting them for you. It's very, very easy.

What you'll find is that 98% of the time the problem is: 1) Dirt; 2) Leaks; 3) The primary butterfly being outside the transfer slot; 4) Clogged Air Bleeds; 4) Accelerator Pump out of adjustment; 5) Secondaries out of adjustment or incorrect spring in a vacuum secondary.

In college I used to charge ten to twenty bucks to clean and adjust your carb. All I did was squirt carb cleaner down the air bleeds, lubricate the linkage with WD40 and then adjust the fuel/air mixture screws and check to make sure the choke worked. That generally resulted in "wow, the car has never run this well before" type reviews.
