Antz Butler engine location

How far back from normal did Arntz get the engine relocated , what was the reason for this as no other manufacturer has done this .

If I had to guess, I would say 6-8" from where the engine normally sits in a Cobra. The reason was to have a 50/50 weight distribution or close to it.

It seems odd they would have to move it that far back to achieve 50/50 weight distribution - I think most Cobra replicas have less than 50% on the front wheels, especially if they are using the heavy Jag rear end which I believe they did. But - I think a lot of them also used BB Chevy engines which are not particularly light, especially with iron heads. Maybe it was to compensate for that weight.

Joyride is right on. it doesn't matter if it was a BB Chevy or Ford...they're all heavy. I can assure you, if you do some research on Steve Arntz's engineering of the Arntz chassis...he was spot on.
