Default Gardner Douglas

Hey everyone. Haven't been on here for a couple of years as I never took the final leap and bought a cobra, went down the mustang route, imported it, enjoyed it, sold it. More serious about cobras now, but really don't think I have the skills to self build. With the import experience I gained with mustangs i'm looking at bargains in US and UK.
Currently looking at a Gardner Douglas in the UK, any experience with these anyone?

A member of the Vic club has one.

The body on it is still in Gel coat and very good.

I think it s Chev powered. Have you checked out registration and compliance?

Rego's alright as this on has 1st rego as 1980. This one has a ford 347 stroker. Not limiting myself to this make or indeed dismissing self build, love the idea, just see too many people loose interest/funds before the end which would be heartbreaking so really keen to buy one built or nearly finished.

If you want to go the authentic route, and excluding a Kirkham, the best in the UK is a Crendon (but perhaps I would say that).

The Crendon chassis is true to the original twin drain-pipe design, but also benefits from a number of subtle suspension geometry tweaks, which means it also has excellent handling, even with a BB fitted.

Lots more on all the UK offerings at www.cobraclub.com - feel free to come and introduce yourself.

I like that new DAX chassis a lot. Some great ideas in there.

Mike put the grinder down, your suspension is fine and does not need to be modified!!

That would be even funnier Gav, if we all know it wasnt true.

Yes Mike, stay away from the mods, I want to see your car parked beside mine at Winton.

Nice Greg!

There's a guy on the clubbie forum who has a Dax clubbie as well.

Cheers

Brilliant Greg. There was TV series on the BBC about building a Dax Rush/V8 (I think that was the car). Also Nigel Dean in the UK magazine Kit Car, did a series on such a build, which I think I still have (Nigel Dean, Kit Car magazine ). It was awesome.

This may be my new project ...

Gav likes this.

That's a lovely little 911?? Merv, a mate of mine just imported a scruffy 356 from the US and he's giving a major makeover.
The Rush MC powered by a turbo Hayabusa took on the Stigs best time on TopGear and beat it......it's a crazy machine!
Thanks for the link to the Raptor, Ill read it with interest.

Hey Geoff, ru back from the desert yet? I've just joined the Clubbie forum, so I'll see if I canna find any Dax bretheren

No mate, still shovelling sand

Look up Treeve, he has a Dax Rush with a TVR 4.0 V8. He's a RTA signatory as well.

Nice 911 Merv.

Cheers

Yes the Raptor - that's right. What motor will you be using Greg? The Hyabusa?

The Porsche I am having check on is a 1968 911 in QLD, but originally California, very original and seemingly rust free and a good history. Time will tell. I was amazed how small they are - the SWB original series (to 1969). It drives beautifully.

That's be me then... Yep, I go by Treeve everywhere, and you can find me as a signatory. At least I know now who has the BEC; I'm building one from scratch, and before you get too carried away with panelling and the rest of the build, I would suggest you give me an email / PM - there's some handy tips from a bloke who's built one!... Can't take a call because I'm currently in the UK on holiday.
