Where to have seat belts made?

I did a titles search but only came up with a thread that’s eleven years old.

I’m using a ’72 240Z shell for the GTO and it was fitted with fixed lap/sash belts. While I’m happy to go with that configuration I would like the belts themselves to be a bit sporty, e.g. 3” and racing type buckle.

I can only seem to find Hemco who make up belts, is anyone aware of a place that could make up approved ‘sporty’ belts? Thanks.

If the car needs to go through engineering then you'd be best to stay with lap sash belts. In any case I believe the FIA rotary buckles do not meet the ADR requirements for prevention of accidental unbuckling.

Schroth make a retractable push button 4 point harness which is claimed to be ADR approved and may appease your engineer.

There are quite a few threads on this subject in the OzClubbie forum.

Speaking from personal experience race harnesses are a pain in the bum in road cars...leave them for the track.

Peter, I can't see much specific detail on their mobile website, but this company are active at all the Brisbane car shows and the products seem well made. Their retractable belts are available on dozens of colour options, but the 3 and 4 point harnesses also mention being for street use;

Unfortunately the 'seatsafe' buckles are a bit too contemporary in appearance. I was kinda hoping to get something like aircraft seat buckles. I used to by 'Dominion' way way back but they don't seem to be around anymore.

I agree with the comment that a harness is a PITA in road cars so that's one reason I'm sticking with the fixed 3 pointer.

(edit) Come to think of it, those lift-type 'Dominion' buckles would only work in a centre position, ie. lap only belts or a harness.

Speak to your engineer, I assume that you've engaged one as you'll have to get a signoff on your LS transplant etc. Better to ask the question than waste/time money because QT have a different interpretation.
