Transfering vic to qld registration
Is it as hard to register in Qld Cobra from Victoria as it is, if from Nsw. Have heard Qld can demand engineering to be redone if vehicles from Nsw. Is it the same if vehicle is from Vic?Must admit there are plenty of good Cobras in Qld to choose from depending on ones budget. Just thought I would ask as looking all over to see whats available at the moment.

Sorry I can't offer any tangible advise, but I thought hey were ADRs not "QDRs" or "VDRs" or even "NSWDRs".
It plain silly to me that these things are even an issue.
Seemingly though, they are.

Yes I agree with you. Seems the states can't work together. That's not new though. Seems to be on all levels of gov. Still waiting for funding to turn up, and then will be able to decide whether to build or buy. N

QLD requires re-engineering on all ICV's that have not been previously registered in that state. Regardless of where they come from. It's not a from scratch process, just a check through the engineering paperwork for the vehicle. If the kit brand has been registered in QLD before, there should be no issue with the paperwork. It also requires a physical inspection etc to confirm build specification matches the approvals.
The ICV registration process is controlled by each state, so that is why there is still differences in the requirements even though the states have moved towards a national set of rules.
And obviously QLD Transport either don't trust the vehicle was engineered to their satisfaction or they think it is likely the vehicle has been modified and no longer complies.
QLD has traditionally had extra requirements & restrictions compared to all the other states.
How did you go finding a QT Approved Person close to you in Cairns? If not did you chat with QT as I would be surprised if there is not a solution that can be workable for you. They would not want to discriminate against you due to your location.

Found engineer in Townsvile. Only a 4 hr drive south. QT was running me around in circles. Still trying to get info from them.

For what its worth you will get a no end of run around with QT.
I purchase a registered vehicle from SA and went through what Craig has advised as above. Find he engineer and discuss with them as they can apply for reciprical registration. It is a full submission to QR, then once approved another inspection at QT (this is what I experienced however it may have changed).
My submission to the engineer was about 3 inches thick of paperwork and a heap of photos as well.
Or locate a QLD car..... there are some good ones out there. Mines for sale at the right price.

Huh?!? Unreal cross-ram EFI motor with some great detail features, pin drive wheels, side pipes (and rear exhaust as well if you insist...), 6 speed. This car will tick a lot of boxes for potential buyers.

Got onto Queensland Transport today and was told if the vehicle had full registration in Vic , then you only have to register vehicle locally in old with current roadwworthy. Seems to simple to me. What about engineering certificates etc...................can't be this easy.....can it?

Your right.... its not that easy!
Ring QT on 10 different occasions and you will possibly get 10 different answers.
The advice that has been provided above from Craig (400TT) is on the money. I do suggest that you get an engineer (approved by QT) involved and perhaps one who has had dealings with ICV's before.
As I understand it, you will have to be applying for reciprical (sp) registration and I can assure you that it is not achieved with just a current roadworthy. You will require this approval from QT before you get a roadworthy.
Hope that this is of assistance as a starting point.

Would it hurt to try the way that Q.T. said they could do it first ??...
Wouldn't it be brilliant....standing at the counter....hand over the roadworthy, and registration form...and they just stamped it, handed you the rego, and then just said "NEXT"

Unfortunately not.
You actually need to speak to someone in Vehicle Standards section of QT. I don't expect anyone else would know.
Actually you are much better off speaking to a QLD Approved Person(Engineer) to get the requirements, preferably an engineer who has done this many times before. This will give you the right advice.
In my opinion in QLD we have the largest range and best prices when it comes to Cobra replicas. Surely you can find a suitable Cobra for the right price here in QLD. Our mate Chook has just picked up a great buy in QLD and it is now heading interstate.
Let us know what you are looking for and budget as there are many more cars that can be purchased for the right price than what is listed for sale on Car Sales, Ebay etc.

it just seems so simple in vic compared to other places, as wazza said, i just turned up with a roadworthy, transfer papers and a reciept, 2 minutes later the car was registered in mine name and they didnt even want to check the chassis no. or engine no.
didnt even have to take the car in at all.
