5.0 ltr Coyote
G'day Crew;
I realise its early days with this engine and the aftermarket stuff is still being developed, but................
Does anyone know of which builder(s) in Australia are 'fiddling' with this motor in naturally aspirated form ?. There are some 'wild' figures with regard to power being thrown about and I think in the future the guys doing a bit now would be worth talking to down the track when some development has had a chance to filter through and availability increases over time.
Has a stroker option been developed for example ?
Just curious...........
Is anyone stuffing what's described above into a new kit here ?
I do see that Ford racing in the US offer the Aluminator XS with 500 plus bhp, but at 16K before it leaves the states, maybe there are better options at home ?
Cheers

I may be wrong (it's happened once before) but I still don't think anyone has cracked the factory controls in regards to getting the variable timing working in a non OEM install.
The coyote will certainly do for Ford what the LS has for GM.
They are only going to get more common once the price comes down.

My feedback is based on the OEM 5.0 mustangs....
I assume ....The ECU kit should allow for similar tuning.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
5.0 coyotes are not being stroked.
You can tune them to have better throttle response and increase timing to get more hp/TQ.
Some have added a supercharger to them as well. If you are going to do this but the aluminator with lower compression and forged internals.
A number of guys early on tuned their stock coyote's 11:1 compression and they had the number 8 cylinder fail. The aluminator is a better bet and the tuning has gotten better.
There are 3 premier tuners in the states. Lund racing, VMP Tuning and AED Performance (shawn is the tuner at AED). All could give you a email tune that most likely would be very good. The all use the SCT X3 handheld. Email tune is approx $250.

Coyote
I know you specified "in Australia" but also have a look at BACKDRAFTS Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Backdraftracing as they have been using these engines in street and road cars for quite a while.
Might shed some light.

Hey Gav,
Having met you only once, I find it hard to believe you may have been wrong at one stage, such was the impression made !! I would need proof to be swayed...
Thanks to all for the replies and info.....
I think Craig Hasted dabbles and also Roger Higgins in QLD. These 2 seriously know what their doing engine wise, but I don't know if they offer these engines in various stages of tune and or at what cost.
Regards

Chris, the Miami ( our local engine) is a good thing, its got ALL the goodies/best bits from Ford's parts bin.
If you're looking for a stroker you can get our 5.4 stroked out to 351 in either the cast iron or alloy block as well.
There is a stroker kit for the Coyote in N/A format I'll have to try and find it for you. OH Oh try looking in US Hot Rod mag I pretty sure that's where I saw it, a complete article on it.

A mate got a new 2012 mustang via Craig Dean and has played with it some.
He ended up supercharging it earlier this year and now has 567 rwhp @ 6200rpm.

Bugger... Can't find the magazine article, but did a quick search and found this:
JPC Racing coyote 351 short block.
COYOTE Stroker Short block 351CI - Justin's Performance Center
Perhaps try call FPV directly?
Good luck with it Chris.

I spotted this 8 stack setup on a Coyote. The system is built by InnoV8 Racing in QLD.
This engine puts out around 475hp and they have a stage 2 version that pumps out 560hp.
I'm starting to think this setup would look sweet in my Pace 427.

SCT is a great tuning package, but it isn't really for the home guy. I have the HP tuners software, it works well. There isn't quite as many parameters as the SCT, nor does it data log like the SCT does. Mind you you can data log with a laptop, so that doesn't worry me. I believe they have tunes for the mustangs, and also local fords, and I also believe they can tune the I6 VCT. Since Ive only used it on the boss, and BF turbos, I haven't used that function

I'll take the sound of the 351W over the Coyote's every day thankyou.
And don't those threatening thunder clouds add to the drama of this vid?
Sad, but I played it three times ....
