Hey all,
Just joined the group. Have been a Cobra fan all my life, ever since my friend in the USA bought a 1967 Cobra in 1967. At the time I believe they were about $6500 USD new and they sent a factory rep to make sure you didn't kill yourself on the first drive. After that first ride I was hooked.
Any way I was looking at the Superformance Cobra but it seems the rep in Melbourne is no longer in biz ? Is that correct ?
Looking at the AP website this product looks great. I sent an e-mail to AP asking if they can build a turnkey car. Never got a reply.
Does AP build turnkey cars ? I have neither the inclination or desire to build one myself.
Thanks for your comments.

Welcome to the Forum, I'm pretty sure the local Superformance rep went out of Business, remember them being based in Warragul. Their web page no longer works.

It's best to call Craig at AP and talk to him about turn key kits. He is hard to get hold of but I find calling him early around 7:30 - 8:00am works for me.
There are a few very nice Cobras on carsales if you want a complete car.
Good luck with your hunt.

Superformance cars are still available but the local supplier is not as active as they once where.
They are a beautiful car to drive.

Welcome!
There are probably more options for Cobra replicas than ever before, with the ability to build perhaps the fastest, safest, best handling, legal cars.
Where are you located? The Queensland club has a monthly meeting which normally has a heap of colour, engine and wheel combinations to consider.

Welcome to the forum
AP hasnt got a registed cobra yet so dont think Craig will build you a turn key car, but should be able to in the future Iam sure.
If your not interested in building a kit then look for a quality second hand car, depends on your budget, but there will be a few around that are as good as new as we dont seem to do to many miles before a mod or change.

Default Registered AP car

Hi Guys

The first AP car to be registered is only a couple of months away.

My build is progressing quite well with a good supply of parts coming thick and fast as you can see from the New Build topic on this Forum.

I have just finished installing the front inner guards on the front of the car today and I will post photo's tomorrow because I forgot my camera today and my old I Phone doesn't do good enough photo's.

Try not to get old because you forget things hahaha

Cheers

Brad

Cobra01

Brad,

Sounds like you are making progress.

I know AP are frantically trying to get kits out and have not been working on their own factory car.

If I were you, I would buy a used Superformance with a clean and clear title that is legal to be driven on public roads.

Save some money and trouble.

Making deposits and waiting and sorting are a pain in the butt.

Just be honest about how you intend to use the car and if you will sell it down the road. The engine affects resale value.

Good Luck.

The last Superformance I saw on CarSales was early last year. Nothing I have seen since has tempted me.
You would think that here is a customer (me) wanting to buy a Cobra and you would also think that the manufacturers here in Oz might be looking at this forum from time to time and say here is a qualified buyer and perhaps contact me.
I am originally from the USA (34 years ago) and I know if there is a hint of a sale in the US 10 sales persons would be banging on the door.
Am I a bit naive to think this could be the case ?

Supply and demand. Classic Aussie problem. And scale. Non of our local cobra suppliers are big businesses (yet), they are generally better engineers than sales people (which is good!), and no-one specialises is reselling 2nd hand cobras.

So unfortunately you'll have to go to them sj ... :-(
