Suspension Advice
Have been stalking on the forum for a while and finally making my first post. I have a DRB (1998) with old school 302. Recently had the 3 speed auto replaced with a 5 speed tremec. Finally feels like a real car.
The front ball joints need replacing, and before I go ahead and change them out, wanting to seek advice from more knowledgable owners, on what options I might have to improve the front end of the car. It runs the standard Torana arrangement. If possible I would like to upgrade the suspension to enable more adjustment if I ever get the urge to do any track work.
Is there someone in Brisbane or near surrounds that I could take the car to for advice.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Thank you. I happened to be in Warwick on Saturday visiting Mal Wood's workshop, and dropped in to the Cobra meeting at Morgan Park. Certainly inspired me to do more with my own car after seeing some great cobras at the track.
Cheers

John Austins old car ??
"Hoppers Stoppers" do a front brake kit for it
Eurethane bushings for the front lower control arms
Upgrade the rear end to a 8" C&P (commodore / ford) 3.45 :1 lsd with disc brakes.
Mal can do all this if you wish

Correct, it is John's old car. Been slowing improving on it. Mal recently put the 5 speed in, though the budget wouldn't stretch to the diff. With standard 302 at present, I doubt if I am producing enough horses to worry the banjo diff. But if I break it I will have to replace it.
Thanks for the info on the front end.
Cheers

If you have an LH front end you could swap the upper control arms for UC’s. The UC’s have an offset ball joint which allows more positive castor. You can also move the upper control arm mounting bolt about 18mm lower and have it in a slightly lower position than was in the A9X.
There is some good information here;
Suspension
Depends what model and what bits you’ve got...

Greg, if you're located on the southside of Brizzie, Sam at Pedders at Capalaba really does know his stuff.
As far as the Torana goes the best front end is from the RTS models, they actually handle pretty damn well.
