A bit confusing as to what you are buying if you read the story. Seems the chassis number was transplanted to a different car not sure how that goes as to who has the actual car?

yeah it was confusing best I could make out the car was written off and the chassis number was rebirthed onto another car then this wreck was rebuilt using many of the original parts .it must have been issued a new number somewhere along the ling as it says its in the Shelby register . for that kind of money I don't know if I would want a write car that's been fixed with a non matching number to the car..

Yeah, its a hairy one this car.
At the time it was done, what was done was perfectly legal, as the body and chassis where simply a part, the VIN was transfered to that part.
Now it is called "rebirth" and is highly illegal.
To my way of thinking, if the original chassis and body are used, then this is the majority of the car, so the numbers should stay with it.
But at the same time, I am also in agree that a body shell, chassis is "just another spare part" and as long as the correct type is used, then a body number/VIN number should be transferable.
I think what makes this all very dodgy is that the original body/Chassis should have been destroyed when it was replaced.
But the seller is very upfront about it, so he is giving the buyer all the info to make an informed decision.

This car has been discussed at length on the UK Cobra Club site and it would appear that the car isn't all that it purports to be. Apparently, it surfaced some time ago wearing a different CSX chassis number (CSX3140), but when the real '3140 turned up, this car morphed into '3272.
If there was ever a case for caveat emptor, this is it.

So is there suspicions as to were the body and chassis did come from, or is the discussion regarding 3272 having the chassis and body replaced correct, and these parts used to build this car?

Probably all of the above and more.
I would want to know much more about how much of which original car(s) was in this particular car.
Based on the ad, I was originally saying it represented a good deal and a likely investment, but as more information came to light, it looks more and more like an air car.
It has been repeatedly advertised over the years for ever decreasing amounts, so probably not a good car to invest your pension on.
