Suggested seats for RMC Cobra

I have a budget of $1000 for seats.
What seats are good value?
Are there any production car seats that suit?

I could be wrong but I believe a lot of guys use the mazda mx 5 seats zoom zoom

There's a grey Cobra seat on this website,that I've always liked.

I ended up "making" a set of seats that were as close as I could get to them.

When you use production car seats they quite often need modifying as they are bulky around the squab adjuster, this is usually the tightest spot in the cockpit. Look for small car seats that are narrow around the squab pivot.
Like Wazza shows, an off the shelf aftermarket seat without the recline is usually the easiest fit and already upholstered, though depends on the look you're after - modern or classic.
I used a fixed headrest SAAS, similar style to the pic Wazza linked and because it goes right back tot the rear bulkhead, it affords plenty of room for longer legs.

hey Wazza, do you still have the mould for those seats or did you leave it with Wawrick ?
If you still have them do you want to sell them ?

I have the mould....it belongs to one of the club members...but I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you want to use it.

I "skinnied" mine down a bit,because I had ideas of having the seats on runners so that my Darling could drive it ( shortish legs)...,and the tapered shape of the interior made me change the shape of the seat a bit to allow plenty of backwards and forwards movements....

But then....

I got the "$hits" with how high the seating position was when we were doing the interior trim, so........

OFF with the runners,and fixed the seat as far back as I could, and as it turned out,was still perfect for the bride to drive.

Im sure you'd be aware of the building method I used on the ENTIRE build,

....do EVERYTHING TWO OR THREE DIFFERENT WAYS until you get it just how you want it.!!

Keep an eye on Ebay for a cheap set of these Saas mach 1 seats:

Shouldnt matter how tatty they are. The have an integrated head rest which can easily be lopped off (it is a separate loop on the frame) - and get them recovered in leather. Should come in less than your budget. I know of quite a few people who have done this - it is quite a narrow seat and I reckon would fit in all cobras.

The trouble I've found with SAAS seats is usually that they're so frickin THICK.

You end up with "lounge chairs" and looking through the top of the windscreen.....

At least....that is how I've found every SAAS seat that I've looked at....maybe there are much thinner ones out there.
