Default Broken down

Well today I thought I would put some K's on the 40.....i like to run a new motor in and the car has been off the road for nearly a year.....After about 80k's of driving the gears where getting harder to select....felt like clutch adjustment...I turned off to drive up to the wind farm which is a nice winding road. Got to the carpark which was on a slight slope but steep enough I needed to change down gears...I couldnt get a gear and by then 3rd was to slow even for a 414ci motor....stalled.......Try to restart and motor to hot and to tight to fire....Bugger. Oh well put it in N and rolled back to a park spot....Instant car show....I thought once motor cools then I can fire up so opened rear clip to help cooling. After talking to a dozen people about the car and listening to Ford jokes for 20min i tried to start car....engine wound over now but wouldnt fire.....Bugger, I run 3 pumps and it didnt sound right when i key on. Seems the main 044 pump has died....I found a bit of wire and ran it to the fuel pump positive and it fired up. Must be a dead relay or blown fuse. I hard wire pump and drive off.

Moral of the story put your relays and fuses in an easy to get to spot. Not like me who hid all that kind of thing and had all sorts of trouble trying to diagnose simple faults.......Next job is to sort all the wiring and access issues......

What happened is my rollover fuel tank vent valve shifted loose and Murphy worked it across to my fuel pump positve terminal blowing the fuse....my fuses are hiding behind the seat nice and neat.....

Ok so today i go to the Albany round the houses vintage race event. My Mate has his GT40 entered.....after a few races his car comes back on tow. I ask whats wrong and he says engine died. Turn key and no fuel pump noise.....hmmmm and no ECU lights on. I say maybe a blown fuse where are your ecu fuses?? Buried under the rear pontoon somewhere...so we pull half the car apart and yep a blown fuse......I laugh and say this happened to me a few days go......glad Murphy moved to someone elses car.....
