Default OMFG my Cobra!!!!!!

Dont worry, its not crashed. As I explained in the Nats thread my car, which has been driving for about 4 weeks now, seems severly down on power, flooring it in first when rolling produced no snakin at all and no wheelspin. It has been like this ever since turning the key for the first time.

Today I took it down to Chevs Performance, plugged it into HP Tuners and we found out why. The tune is a stock VE HSV LS3. Chev disabled all torque management features, or maxed out the metrics for those which cannot be "disabled" and I took it up the street. Something so simple yet clearly important.

Wow. Now I know what a Cobra is supposed to feel like when you boot it!!! Fark this thing is fast! Might need some new rear tyres soon.......

Seriously it feels like Ive gone from a Corolla to a Lambo. Good work Chev!

Andrew do you think you can get the cam in past the front X brace, or will you have to pull the engine?

Im pretty sure Gav said you can do it in car OK - should be a lot more space than a commodore at least. At worst I might need to jack it up a bit or take off the mounts and drop it down.

Well done Ben,

I had exactly the same thing with mine when they disabled the "Torque limiter" as my LS was out of a UTE.

Have fun.

Andy, I have been thinking about a cam etc for a little while too. Gav said it can be done in the car by jacking up the engine a little.

cheers

Gregg

You just need to back off your engine mounts and lift the engine by 50mm or so.
Ensure you replace the valve springs while you are at it, comp cams 918's are cheap and very good.

Jezus Ben, looks like Andy and I are going to need to learn how to drive now...

I remember driving my earlier Cobra the first time with 180 rwkw - I thought "I am probably going to die in this car"! You get used to it fast.

Later I got it tuned and had 244 rwkw and thought now this is fun!

A while later I got some new pipes fitted at Racer's Choice and thought wow, only right foot in a straight line.

Nutters these days are going LSA. Balls of steel fellas.

Same here! My first Cobra back in 1998 went from a pretty mild 302w with 135rwkw(14.0 quarter mile) to an alloy headed 347w with 220rwkw(12.0 quarter mile) and at first I thought I was going to kill myself!!!

Back in the day it was considered quite a quick car, not these days, but you get used to the power pretty quickly.

Times and budgets change so if my Pace has anything under 330-340rwkw(aspirated) and 430-440rwkw on the bottle I will be extremely disappointed!

Glad you're happy with yours Modena!!!! Time to have some fun now!
