hi Bax,
I was looking at throttle body induction as well.. Harrop do a nice carbon fiber 8 trumpet inlet which is lower profile than the style you mentioned and uses the standard TB actuator. LSX parts sell them along with a few others I expect..
Cheers
Chris

Hi Baz
I know nothing about the Borla throttle bodies but when I was trying to measure my bonnet clearance from my manifold.
I got some lumps of soft plasticine / pottery clay stuck on the highest points of the existing manifold and close the bonnet, clay will flatten out and give you an accurate clearance measurement
Pretty low tec but accurate

I've seen these OBX 8 throttle body kits on US eBay lately. Price is pretty good even with the crap exchange rate.
OBX Intake LS2
Or if you want to go with a local supplier you could check out Stack Injection who supply Aussie made DC&O setups.

EFI hardware in Mitcham are another local mob I can recommend, but it looks like Aussie found a mob close to you.
If going 8 stack, it's my understanding that the longer the length of the runner, the better chance you're going to have tuning it for street use, between 1000-3000rpm. Fortunately for you Baz a lot of the LS series 8stacks are Cross Rams. Resulting in proportionately longer runners, yet a lower profile intake system.
Fwiw: ...and I don't mean this to put you off trying, but under the hood of a cobra, (and scoop), air pressure and air speed varries greatly, and disproportionately, with the vehicle's speed. Tuning these things on a dyno, won't replicate real world driving. They are a pain in the a55 to tune right!
Good luck with it. I'll be cheering keenly from the sidelines.

Mike might have a bit more to add to this one..
I was advised when considering the stack / trumpet systems to look at the matching of the intake, cam (and springs on an LS) with the exhaust... its part of a system and wont necessairly perform well unless its installed as part of a matched induction / exhaust set.
Cheers
Chris

Hello Baz,
I am going to put an 8 stack on my car, but I think you need to consider the practicality of these systems.
Make sure you are happy to compromise your emmissions and tuneability if going this way!
Cheers,
Ben

Thanks fellas,
Mike, that OBX 8 system is certainly the right price compared to the Borla and EFI systems. I'll check it out.
I'll call in early in January Peter.
