Default What size tyres do people run

Hi all,

I have purchased a set of team 3 AC III rims which I am waiting on delivery. I have 17 x 7 front and 17 x 9.5 rear. Just wondering what size tyres people are running on similar rims sizes, and what recommendations you all have for tyres in general. The car is used only for road no track work as yet.

Cheers

Andrew

Its a bit hard to find anything but 235/45R17 front and 275/40R17 rear. Would be the most popular 17" sizes. I think my wheels are 8" and 9.5" and this is what I have.

I ran 275's on my Team 3 9.5 rears. Fitted nicely, I ended up removing my Team 3 wheels. The 9.5's have a welded on bead on inside of the rims which seemed fine for street but not track load IMHO. They grind and polish the weld down (initially I thought the rim had a crack all the way round. Anyways not bashing Team 3 just letting you know my experience

Not really relevant but my 17's I run
275/40 on 10 inch front
335/35 on 12 inch rear

Use this https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ it helps a lot with profiles etc

Most guys on cobras run a .05 smaller aspect ratio in the rear relevant to width.

275 or 285 is about as wide as you would want on a 9.5 inch rim. I've seen a 315 installed on one and the bead looked really pulled in. 11 inch is the ideal for a 315.

Cheers

Andrew if you ever get around to running the proper size wheels and tyres, I have 255/60X15s on eight inch front rims and 295/50X15s on ten inch rears.

Street
17x8 - 245
17x9.5 - 275

Track
18x9.5 - 235
18x11 - 285

Wider rim than tyre stretches the tread and in my experience gave more grip...

Just my 2c worth.

Hi all,

Thanks for you input so looks like 275 or 285 is the go for the rear. The guys that are running the 285 on 17" rims where did you get your tyres from and what are they? I have done some looking and haven't been able to find any tyres other than a P zero in 285/40/17. At $450 odd a tyre probably just a bit out of the budget.

Cheers

Andrew

285 / 17 is a listed size in KU36, but good luck finding them. I think DaveW got the last ones in Australia!
