Factory Five Racing kits
Hi Guys,
looking at all the options for kits and have whittled the list down to 3;
classic revival
absolute pace and,
factory five FFR
problem is component kits in perth have ceased being the agent for the FFR kits. i can import directly from the US but what worries me (apart from cost of importing) is the compliance issues for fully registering in Victoria
anyone on the forum that has built a FFR kit? and if so what issues did you have in building and registering in Victoria
anyone imported one into australia and what was the cost of shipping, customs, tax etc?
Any advice would be appreciated- would also love to check out a completed car
cheers Chris

Honestly , I would just sign up for the Pace. The car is miles better and with the crap Aussie dollar it just doesn't make sense to buy from the US at the moment.
Oh and welcome to the forum.
Cheers
Dave

you should look up forum member Jethrow

I built and imported a FFR Coupe maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Lots of changes needed to comply. Wasnt hard but lots of parts wasted because they were not ADR approved. Happy to discuss importing hassles, ADR issues and so on. Have a look at my photo gallery for build pics

Spookypt
Spoke to Chris Canning in Perth a couple of weeks ago and has decided to cease importing. Not sure exactly why but perhaps the hassles with importing may have been a factor. He didn't indicate he had any issues with FFR.
Yeh the Pace is looking like a possibility.....

I guess with the weaker AUD imported stuff starts to lose its appeal. Even ordering basic stuff from USA suppliers can have their issues so a whole kit load of car is always potentially an issue.
Certainly I think you should be able to find what you're looking for in Oz. As Dave (AlbanyCobra) has suggested talk to him as he has had much experience in many makes and models and knows the pitfalls and positives of most.....

Hi Chris
No matter what kit you choose the support offered from the manufacturer you choose after you've bought the kit is important as poor support can be the difference between enjoying your build or frustration..
All the best Andrew

Hey Chris, Congrats on signing up to your Cobra build. It was great catching up with you at Phil's "CR Round-tubers" gathering the other day. Looking forward to seeing the progress of your build in the future. cheers Gregg

Am in the midst of a FFR Coupe build, primarily because I wanted a car with a roof.
That said, if I was remotely inclined to build a roadster the Pace 427 is so far ahead of EVERYTHING else its not even close. Most particularly, its a RHD, compliant vehicle with all of the testing requirements completed.
Am sure you will enjoy your build and driving your Pace, its a beautiful car.. .
Chris

Guys and Gals,
Thanks for all the words of thanks and support. Really looking forward to the build and im sure i will have some challenges along the way as i havent even really thought of the engine options. Heart says to drop a Ford in it but the head is aiming at the LS3 or LSA option due to the $$ per horsepower ratio.
Guy- saw your car at the Feb meeting and that gave me a push toward the Pace. FYI i live in Glen iris so not too far away. love to catch up at May meeting ( cant make April as away for work) or maybe shelbyfest?
Cheers- Chris
