Rat Rods. mmmmmmmm
Lately I've been interested in rat rods. I just want something I don't give a rats ar!se about when I go shopping but somehow still looks cool. Nothing to ridiculous with skulls, no upholstery or pipe stack billowing black smoke.
It would be hard for one to be legal around here. I still want it to be safe and comfortable to drive.

48 chev truck. Well I think that they are 48-53. Anyway, practical, will have plenty of rat-a-billity, run a SBC, auto, and you got a tray to get stuff from the shops and a box of nails when you go to Bunnings.
Think is, you will find no one will touch it, so you will get less dents than a normal car.
Thoughts for a start anyway.
Google image search..... Plenty of fun.. 48 Chevy truck rat rod

I'd really like to build a ratrod pickup, maybe later. Nothing crazy, simple with a well-built flathead!
Meanwhile, these may be of interest or inspiration.

Not my cup of tea
I have no use or understanding of the rad rod concept....
but I have a 1999 Chev 4X4 Silverado pickup with 140,000 one owner/driver miles on it that is my daily driver....
And it looks and drives like a new one...

I fell in love with a concept of the rat rod as you see in the US
Build something cheap with left overs was what I told the wife
Truth is though to build one and get it registered here you lose something
I should have also given more though to drivability and opted to build a cobra instead
Would I ever build another one - no
Is if fun to take it out for run - hell yes

Was that legally road registered?
Bit to heavy duty. I like the Willy coupes. There is one for sale with a dicky seat in the back for the kids with a soft top. But it's a immaculate hot rod. I would still be to scared to park it anywhere.
How many people drive their Cobra and don't care what happens to it? In the end the insurance covers major damage. But until I get the first stone chips, it'll be a shame to have harm come to it.

It's almost a relief when it finally happens.

Don't get pretty paint and you never have to worry. Life is stressful enough

The good thing about a Cobra is, that it doesn't matter how dirty or rough the paint looks, the car still looks good. I'm not interested in a show queen. I just want to drive. I've always wanted to build "The Car'' out of the movie in the 70's.

You don't have to go extreme...I have a friend that has built a fully road registered (NSW) 28 ford with a flathead and its rough as... flat black primer welds not finished etc. but this thing is so sweet. it starts before a full rotation and runs like a top. sounds good too.
This bloke seems to find old stuff in paddocks all the time.

42BT, if the "photo uploaded" dates on your Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/UllmannEngineering/ align with the actual build timeline, you've created a beautiful truck in an incredibly short space of time.

Go for it! I love Hot Rods and Rat Rods. In fact I love all unique cars. Cool cars pictured here.
Here is my little Hot Rod build. I'm doing it on the cheap with mostly parts that I've accumulated over the years. The frame is Locost like. The suspension C4 Corvette. The body is foam that I shaped and then glassed.
I've been on vacation for a couple of weeks. I'll be home Tuesday and hope to get the car done soon. Then on to a Cheetah build. Having fun.
