Default Toyo R888 Alternatives

Hi all,

Its well past time I replaced the tyres on my Daytona which has 265/35-18 Toyo R888's, so I looked around and they appear to be no longer available anywhere in AUST, unless I want them from overseas. Toyo confirmed that the replacement R888R is on the way and an ebay search has them at more than double the price of the old model.

So my question is, what would be a suitable replacement considering the Toyos are a great track tyre that is also suitable for road use

Hey, Toyo have a new replacement tyre on the way I believe.
Nitto (a brand wholely owned by Toyo) has an equivalent tyre and are/were made at Toyo's US plant, and have a pretty good range of sizes.
I call Toyo HQ in your state and ask you've nothing to loose

Hey Theo, you could join us in the Control Tyre class, its lots of fun and the tyres are pretty reasonably priced. I just bought some KU36 245/45r17's for my fronts yesterday - $213 each delivered.

Here's why - worlds longest front brake lock up - doh!

Gav put me onto a web based place that aggregates from wholesalers around the country... I got a set of KU36's sourced from WA, NSW and QLD at a good price, one delivery, no hassles. Might be tyresales.com.au.. Will update if I can find the post...
