Ford 5.4 Crate motors
Hi All,
Just thought you might like to know there are a few Quad Cam 5.4 Crate motors in this months "Just Parts" magazine.
Check out page 123. There's a new N/A version for $5,900 which seems pretty good to me. It's a US version and has a different manifold to the aussie BOSS motors.
There's also a complete supercharged 5.4 with Auto trans, loom and accessories. No price on this one though.
These motors are from the Ford Lightning truck out of the US. Not sure on how you will go with emissions but it might be worth asking an engineer's opinion.
Cheers

Thanks Mike
Those crate 5.4's may not be ADR friendly
As I understand it Boss 260 & 290 are assembled in Oz
by FPV and have their own specification compared to US sourced
motors as well as some local parts.
However, after saying that, ADR proposed changes seem to be going in circles at the moment, at least in vic, so who knows.
Just better hope your engineer does!

Ford Motors
Do I detect a hint of reservation in choosing one of those lumps of aluminium to power your cobra machine? Regards Mando.

ADR = Australian Design Rules
At the moment the ADR for vehicle emissions for Individually Constructed Vehicles is uncertain. Australia has recently adopted Euro 3 emissions standards but for ICV's it appears, for the moment at least in some states of Oz, Euro 2 complient motors can be used. Euro2 basically means that motors must use EFI and cats - any factory engine back to 1992 from memory.

Boss 260 engines have come down in price Big time as seen on ebay au.perhaps due Ford Australia closing its manufacturing operations. Ford modular engines are in plenty supply in the USA.

Too true JC.
It was two weeks ago today I bought a 2005 BOSS 260 for around $1500-$2000.
Came complete with a key and a couple of bent doors etc.
In the glovebox I found an owners manual signed by a Taswegian who drove around a bit back then but is now in the United States (still driving round in circles).
The colour would be a shock (to some) wave (ing) and I am told they are a DEVIL to drive or Race.
Oh yeah, there is a nameplate somewhere on the engine as well.
Dave
P.S. It would be enough to make Russell Ingall green with ENVY (envi).

Are you restoring or stripping it?

Spot on Dave.
I didn't know of the Enforcer or Devil R until I got this one home and obviously had never seen one in the flesh either.
I will be repairing this one.
It has impact damage on the left hand side. Both doors, B pillar, sill and the sheet metal around the wheel arch.
It even had the owners manual signed by Ambrose in the glovebox.
