Default Stereo Install

I can't find anything recent on a decent stereo install. Just curious if anyone had some recommendations and some pictures??

Thank you!

Chad

Search my post under superformance. In a nut shell mount the stereo in the trunk and route a mini stereo cable to cockpit and use an ipod for music control. Build a speaker box for between your seats. Best thing i ever did.

Bought a unit from Best Buy. Had them install it, the guy knew what he was doing. The unit is up under my dash on the passanger side. I plug my ipod in and have great music. If I want radio, there is an antenna under the dash. Two speakers between the seats side by side. Works great. Remember if you kill your electrical power to the car, you will have to reset the unit to auxilliary from radio and reset the tone.

Great advice Steve. Do you have any pictures of your install?

Max, I'll try and find it!

Thanks!

Please do not post anymore. Every time you post, I end up looking at your avatar for 10 minutes, and it is costing me valuable time!

I had mine done at Best Buy also, the guarantee for life the work they do. I had the stereo already so they removed the old one and re install the new one more up to date stereo with ipod interphase. You could also use the disguised stereo system. It is commonly used in vintage cars, the stereo unit is under the dash disguised and you only have a tiny control pad under the dash, this one you can interphase with an Ipod so you do not need the disc changer unit, as the car moves it jumps the track of the CD. I will send you the website on another quote.
I hope it works for you

Here it is I will attach a picture of my former vintage Volvo 123 GT 1967 to show you the only visible part. yOu also have a remote control with the unit. I would not purchase the cd changer though.

The picture is in my albums by itself I am not that great at inserting pictures in these messages, somehow it never works so go to my albums and look at it.
I hope you like it.

You can spend a lot and get a little, or spend a little and get a little... audio systems in these cars are limited not only by the noise of the engine but mostly the noise of the wind and the limitations on where you can put speakers etc.

The best system for the money we have done is a high end set of speakers in the rear wall (and I don't mean anything you get a box store) paired with a quality amp that has some real clean power. We run that right through the headphone jack of an iPhone or iPad. It's clean and relatively stealthy.

Some customers prefer a more traditional input and control method so we mount a marine head unit in the trunk with a control unit under the dash:

I put a 7" flip out lcd tv/dvd player, 2- 6 1/2" with tweeters in the doors and 2- 6" x 9" in the tunnel and a amp in the trunk. I love it, bluetooth, ipod, nav, movies...if Im at a show I can sit and watch a movie. It all folds back in nice and neat. Sounds amazing! I used all Alpine equipment and the sound is flawless!

I have a 5 channel amp mounted in the trunk, 8" sub mounted in the trunk, 2 speakers on the back wall and 2 tweeters on the door walls. I use a sirius stiletto2 to run it so I have satellite radio and 12g of my own music. Works and sounds great
