Default BDR No brakelights

I just noticed I have no brakelights on my BDR #388. I read a few posts that the switch is not on the peddle it's on the master or slave cylinder. Where would it be located and can I just short the two wires together to make sure that's the problem? Is it a simple part replacement or does the brake fluid leak out?

Switch is at the end of the brake master cylinder.

Duralast P/N RB401 @ Autozone.

Go buy the part and then it will be easy to locate the existing one on your car. Maybe 4 drops of fluid will drip while you are swapping out the part..

If it's not the switch then check the housing for stoplight bulbs. A number of BDR owners have had issues with the housing melting or breaking. I used silicon RTV to hold the bulbs in place.

Others say that they don't lose brake fluid but I lost quite a bit when I changed mine a few months back. I had the new one ready when I removed the old one but it took some doing to get the new one threaded in correctly.

Just changes the brake pressure switch and it works fine know, As stated it was a little tricky to get the new one threaded. After a test run the turn signal don't work. That was a fuse problem. When it rains it pours!

Better keep one on hand. This part suffers from the same fate as the slave cylinders. The switch is located right about the headers and gets cooked. Great!
I have done 4 or 5...4500 mileage...

Default More electrical issues

After fixing the Brake light issue I noticed the turn signals didn't work so I checked the fuse and it was blown. The next day after a long ride the Hazard and turn signals were not working so I checked and both fuses were blown. I changed them and all is good but I haven't driven yet. Why would both fuses blow is there a common point Bulb harness or something that would cause this.

BDR has a heat shield you can install between the MC and headers, worked for me.

I'm having the same issue with my brake switch, but can't get the old one off the brake MC. Any tricks? My socket wrench arm is too long to fit back there and the 1" socket isn't grabbing the switch. Thx

I used an open end wrench and angled it from the top.

I've changed one in 6,500 miles. Maybe you should idle it less and drive it more..
