Default replacement air cleaner

Anyone have any experience with using an oval air cleaner with open top with filter on top for extra air intake?

Saw these online:

If you have clearance under the bonnet then it should work well for you. I had one from summit racing on my BDR, had to trim it to fit (air gap manifold made it pretty tight) but once on it worked very well.

Good luck!

I have Backdraft #1360 with a Roush 427R engine. I measured the air filter clearances and it appears that the Extreme Oval Washable Air Filter as described in your above Post would work well for my car and others with similar hood/engine arrangements. The subject air filter would certainly improve the air intake. I look forward to hearing from others about the subject air filter. If positive, I would consider purchasing one.

Skip White Performance also offers a 15" version of this. I believe they're 3 5/8" high, carb flange to top of air cleaner.

While it's apparently sold out right now on their Web site (Skip White Performance Detail Description), Skip White's eBay store shows 10 available.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone out there currently using this type of air cleaner? Interested in hearing thoughts before spending the $.
